Here's what I use:

  • Downloading from camera: gphoto2 from the command line (or rarely a card reader)
  • Working with RAW files: ufraw
  • Image editing: The Gimp
  • Image viewer: geeqie (FKA gqview)
  • Scanning: xsane (does anyone actually use anything else??)
  • Video editing: pitivi (very simple and basic....)

Oh...and of course various Imagemagick utilities for batch processing, galleries, quick edits, etc. from the command line.

I used Bibble primarily when i was doing photo stuff on nix. these days it's all lightroom on osx though.
