Okay this is straight out of the camera. I love the idea of the shot, but not so sure I am in love with the shot. It was from this past weekend and most likely will not see the car again. It was a quick snap as he was pulling up to the start so I didnt have more than a second or 2 to aim... Any ideas on something to just make the picture better?

Given the amount of time you had to take the photo, I actually quite like it.

I was thinking it'd be great if you could see the back wheels and stuff, but actually... it's kind of a cool perspective.

I have a few of it actually racing

Probably a few more. But havent gotten them up yet. These were from the test and tune so I was mostly just playing with the new lenses and not paying as much attention.
I have a thing for Elise's and there were 3 there this weekend so I was happy lol!

Never shoot heat waves. Never shoot fast shutter. Always put some sort of action to your shots if they arent intentional stills. It can be difficult to find action in a car driving away from you.

I know nothing.

I've driven a Lotus, us rednecks do get out , but honestly, and call me a vagina if you want, I like the way a 1st gen Miata handles and feels. I dunno why, you would thin the Lotus would own a car worth $2500, but really, a 180,000 mile mx5 felt tighter and more like a drivers car. Don't hit me.

Btw, the pics are pretty bad ass. I like em, especially the 1st shot.

LOL, I'm 6ft and I fit, kinda (wheel felt like it was in a odd spot) but my lil CRX feels like a Buick, tons of leg room. The Miata, feels like an extension of my body. That sounded weird

Seriously, a Miata is about the best handling car you're going to get for $2000. I know where a decent turbo Miata with a well sorted suspension sits, and that's what the asking price is. I wouldn't consider it a daily driver (the top is missing and it needs to be tuned), but jeez, it's a $2000 turbo Miata.

A buddy of mine owns a Lotus and I like them but I don't fit in one. At all. Just too freaking tall.

Love that first shot, by the way. Not sure I'd do anything to it. It might be a touch soft in focus but I could blame that on my crappy computer monitor. You could try cropping the edges just a bit to make it seem more centered. I say for the time you had to snap the photo, it's a hell of a shot!

thanks guys! Well you miata fans would have loved it. There were a ton there and 95% were first gens! And a ton of S2000's. The miatas were fun to watch thats for sure! I've been in the lotus a few times and it was a blast! I just need to bum him for a co drive sometime! Although I think my favorites to watch at the karts! They are just crazy fast! Esp. some of the kids!
And yeah usually I try to get more movement in my shots, but I was mostly just trying to learn with this lens and decide if I want to drop the money on it.

as far as the image goes, crop out everything BUT the back of the car/tail light area. and ditch the watermark or just make it really tiny. i understand wanting to label your photo, but to me, that ALWAYS ruins a good shot.

big miata fan here, a custom miata can work wonders on the track.

As for the picture, id just level it out I think.....
if you wanted to do heavy PP wor you could dump the background and make it a poster style shot where the background is all black and have the lotus symbol and type above it.

as a side, what do you think of the Monster Miata conversion? You know, stuffing a 302 or 351 out of a Mustang into one?

Scary fun, but I personally think it ruins the car. It can't handle well with all that extra weight in the nose, but it has to be a blast in a straight line. Have you seen the LS1 swaps in em yet? Evil.

i have heard about them, but yet to see one. The LS1- LS family seems to be gaining traction as the engine to stuff into things. I have seen them installed in 240's and older 280Z's. As i stated, a friend stuffed one into a Fox-body Mustang with success... scary success.

From what I understand, an LSx doesn't upset the balance of the car too much. Flyin' Miata has an LS Miata in their stable. It looks like they've done quite a few conversions. http://www.flyinmi.../build_diaries.php

the LS-family is very light for it's displacement and size. Also, it is a very compact powerplant, especially when placed side by side with the Ford Romeo-series 4.6L/5.4L V8.

sorry to threadjack.
