The nut at my local camera shop was ranting about how Kodak is likely going bankrupt and Fuji is considering discontinuing most of their film line. He's been known to spew unfounded nonsense before. Some brief Google searches showed Fuji cutting a few pro films, and Kodak stock bombing, but nothing definitive. What are your thoughts on this? Anyone know more, should I start freezing bricks of film now?

Kodak Just released several new films, I don't see them tanking any time soon.

Both of them have reduced their product lines and consolidated. I haven't heard that they were going to stop altogether. I really hope they don't (of course). I'm a big fan of the kew offerings from Kodak.

This is why I was a little skeptical at his statement.. but it is true that their stocks are approaching bankruptcy levels and I've seen some articles suggesting a changing of ownership

I think if anything the prices will increase. I'm seeing a small resurgence in film shooters that I believe will keep the market from disappearing completely.

I'd be skeptical of this guy. Fuji may be downsizing their film lines but Kodak is producing new films for new markets (Ektar). Its awesome, I love kodak!

Ektar 100 is a wonderful film! I'll be packing five rolls of the stuff in medium format for my trip to Ohio in a couple weeks, and a roll in 35mm as well.

Late least year Fuji stopped its Pro 800 line, but after many complaints they developed a new Pro 800, but I do not recommend this one. Unlike the old, it does not take push and pulls very well, and the color and flexibility is a lot less. I have started working with their superia 400, which they upgraded this year, around may, and it works good, push and pulls are nice, but not like the old 800, and it lacks some of the details their old 800 would catch on any ISO setting. Still not bad, but trying new films to get what I had with their old 800pro line.
Now the medium format 800 pro is still the same, and is working just as good, it is the 35mm that is now sucking.

I am looking to get the 160 pro line and see how that works.
