Comment, please. I don't know about the rest of you, but I want to see a new El Camino.

It could look like this...

Just throwing that out there.

Before Pontiac was shitcanned, there was a plan to bring the Holden Ute here. My opinion, life just hasn't been the same since the El Camino has been gone.
(of course, I think Subaru should bring back an Impreza-based Brat too)

I think GM might have the balls to introduce it to the US under the Chevy badge; they could call it the Lumina Pickup

Well they haven't had a Lumina SUV yet, either...

Sorry to burst your guys' bubbles, but GM wouldnt commit suicide by reintroducing the El Camino. Nothing screams trash more than that car. Sales will be low, and GM will lose a lot. It was gone a long time ago for good reason.

Nothin wrong with the good ol ute. Fantastic work and play cars.

Was it just a financial problem with the death of the Monaro (G8?), why it was canned.

How would it or the ute fare over there nowadays?

In GM related news: It appears the American police force has struck a great deal on our Caprice's. $25k for a stripped out V8, here that price for that car would be unheard of, that is, if Holden would even do it for someone...
Normally the Caprice costs $70-odd thousand, but the Caprices going to the States are cheaper than a base model V6 Commodore

Australia's cheapest hoon-mobile which wont be released in Aus.

Back to El-Camino rants.

I've been hearing that GM managed to get a deal out of Holden to produce the Caprice PPV not in Australia, but actually at Oshawa Assembly in Canada. Oshawa apparently has the lowest cost in manufacturing of all GM plants; while Holden's plants are the 2nd lowest cost even including import taxes.

Thats is interesting. Even including import tax the Aussie plant is 2nd lowest. We get reamed for just about everything even if it was built in Australia, performance cars (stangs, corvette, euro etc) and ARB lockers are the first two that come to mind when buying/importing.

I looked on wikipedia and it said no such thing about building the Caprice's in Canada

Apparently its not been confirmed yet; I've just been reading about in Motor Trend and a few other car mags. Motor Trend actually said "it would be in produced in Brampton" which is funny because GM never had a plant in Brampton; but they later corrected it...

It was because they killed off Pontiac, and didn't have the resources at the time to turn the car into another brand. Sad, too, the G8 was just awesome.

I could go on all day folks. There is a demand for these type vehicles. And with higher fuel prices, and the success of crossovers, its only a matter of time till the original crossovers, the El Camino, the Ranchero, and even the lil Dodge Rampage make a comeback. Be prepared.
