he then proceeded to add a goofey blurb about EVERY trophy he ever got in that game. Some thing along the lines of "ooh look at me I'm Mario and I'm a cool guy I save peach" x500 for like 2 hours.

sorry that seems kinda your fault. you should have spoken up. dates are a two way street... when it started going south you should have let him know or suggested something you would be entertained by... or at least mentioned you were in the mood to do something else. Cause 2 hours seems a bit much to put yourself through.

When I joined okcupid, I quickly learned NOT to give my number out to people during first contact, and to ignore anybody who asked for it.

I don't know that site.

I used POF, JDate and Yahoo personals. All with varying degrees of success.

JDate was kind of expensive and only had limited results. The only women interested in me were hundreds of miles away. There was one local woman that was a bit older than me and I'm OK with that. The first date ended up with us shtupping on the living room floor. I wasn't trying to do that, but I sometimes have trouble saying no. The next message from her was she wanted me to meet her daughter. I decided to stop there.

Yahoo and POF got about the same results, but since POF was free, I just stuck with that.

Seems a lot of the meetings I got through POF, the first date ended with shtupping. Not complaining, but that's not good sign of a potential long-term relationship, which is what I was looking for as opposed to a dozen or so FWB's which is what I had for a while.

I met my wife Roxanne in grade 2, same school through to grade 7 then we ended up in the same high school as well. Started out as friends, hung out together all the time and we know all our faults, flaws and good things too, of course. It just feels good knowing that you are with someone you love/trust and they love/trust you back, unconditionally. I can't imagine the horrors of online dating.

Oh and people would always call me hun. I hate that.

I am completely turned off whenever someone calls me a pet name (sweetie, baby, honey, etc.) within the first month of knowing me or without a serious personal connection. Actually, only my boyfriend and parents can call me pet names without weirding me out.

That's very sweet and pretty awesome. She loves you despite the high socks? LOL That's basically the same as my parents (actually including the socks part).

I actually work with three women who are married to their high school sweethearts and they are in their mid 30's- mid 40's. Pretty impressive.

My little brother and best friend found their wifes online through Eharmony and Yahoo respectively. I think my friend had one psycho experience before he got lucky. My mom thinks I should use Eharmony but hell if I know.

I don't think online dating is wrong or sad. I think it eliminates some of the human factor though. And that isn't exactly a bad thing. finding out who is and is not a douche before you meet them or get used is a great thing. Besides through online you can establish a friendship before you push into the relationship, I guess.

I won't respond if:

1. You're doing the duck lips
2. You're dressed trashy (ie Jersey Shore style)
3. You make a detailed list of the perfect person you are looking for and expect anyone who messages to meet ALL criteria of your high standards.
4. You talk down about people who don't fit your standards in your profile.

I also don't like girls who post more pictures of their pets then themselves or have the exact 2 or 3 people in ALL their pictures and fail to point out which one they are.

Men like to use shirtless photos and wearing sunglasses indoors as they sit in their computer room. It's more about the "look I'm macho" look.

Women like to use the "here are my titties" look which says "this is all I can offer you".

Somewhere in between there is a balance between intelligence and decent looks... but on a dating site you're not apt to find it.

the other thing is, I've often heard the best criteria in a woman is dumb, deaf, blind, and owns a liquor store... but you also wont find that on a dating website either.

Yeah, maybe for the guys who can't handle a woman with an opinion, a voice, and the balls to stand up for things and who are too scared to listen to a response. Oh wait, I should really be directing this message to someone else on this thread.

But in all seriousness, there are a bunch of wackos online, on uer, walking around on the street, and working in the cube next to us. If your wacky works with their wacky, then get wacky together!

What is missing is knowing if you have that physical chemistry, so it's approaching dating from the first time you talk to the person vs first seeing them. You don't critique someone in bar by their run on sentences, but you could online. Anyone can post a great picture, a lot don't, men and women are guilty for this. There are a lot of successes out there, and a lot of horror stories.

I know about that. I met a woman that I thought was nice, but she was too far away for me. Care to guess which one she turned out to be?

The irony of course is that the same woman who wrote the above is the same woman who claimed she didn't care "what complete strangers had to say" but then complained about feeling scolded and spoken down to by one.

That same woman then claimed that men are "too scared to listen to a response" yet responded to a male with an opinion, a voice and balls with, "And as for Intrinsic - all I have left to say is shut up, I'm done reading."

That's okay - we know you're a hypocrite and that your arguments don't extend beyond yourself.

Just so we don't confuse the readers, he's actually talking about two completely separate threads/convos, and a rude PM I got etc.

Had you allowed me to actually respond to your PM where before you so cowardly blocked me from doing so, I suppose to get the last word in, I probably would have surprised you with my response. Intrinsic - I am actually a very reasonable and level headed woman who got pissed off and reacted impulsively to someone else and we've dealt with it, and are great. If you ever want to know exactly what I mean by the words I say, without taking them out of context, please don't systematically dissect them as you do, just ask me and I'll gladly explain .

You are entitled to your own opinion on who you think I am.

Look, I can't be the only one who finds it awkward and uncomfortable to not pull their socks up.

You aren't, although most of these people reside in retirement areas of FLA. LOL Completely serious about this, it may rub the hair off your legs, and that does not look good.

hehe, that wasn't my criteria haha... it's just a saying I have often heard. haha...

Thank goodness! I know at least one woman who has a guy version of this - dumb, hung and a total pushover.

now this conversation train has derailed

You're right, my apologies, ok back on topic! Question - biggest misrepresentation someone you've met from online has made about themselves - ie height, weight, picture, marital status... annnd GO!

Yup.. the same thing happened to me too about 3 years ago. Mature.

Funny, since then I've been getting random rude messages from fake profiles on flickr, facebook and POF, and always the accounts are deleted shortly after the message is sent. Such fun!!
