	For the past two days, my computer has restarted during the night to install Windows updates. I've been working on a video for the past two days too, and left my Adobe windows open so I could get right back to work in the morning and remember what I was doing. I'm used to this happening occasionally and it usually doesn't bother me, but it's done it two days in a row and now it says there are more updates. I would like for Microsoft to stop working on Windows 7 and get to work on letting people turn the damn shutter sound off in Windows Phone 7. I'm pretty twacked right now. /rant.

	The shutter sound thing may not happen... There was a movement to pass federal legislation about it...the law wants the shutter sound to remain as it is in cell phones so that people are aware when someone is using their camera. This comes from identity theft issues and theft of credit card and PIN numbers. I don't know if this has happened yet...but don't count on ever being able to.

	Change the Windows Update setting so the OS does not install updated automatically. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306525

	I actually like Mac, but I hate "Mac people." The people who put the Mac stickers on the back of their car. The OS is nice though, I just don't have $1,200 to blow on a desktop that isn't as good as my current one.

I've tried this a few different times. I never get past the loading screen on the setup disc. Probably a hardware compatibility issue.

Most likely. OSX is very particular when it come to hardware. If you follow the hardware compatibility list closely you should not have too many problems. I built a Hack about 9 moths ago using a Gigabyte mobo, quad core 2 cpu, and nvidia gtx470 video. I have been very happy with the box so far. The biggest problem is when apple issues updates. You typically have to wait a few months before installing the latest point release. This gives the scene time to work out all the bugs.

Cost.
If I had enough money to, I would love to have a 12-core Mac Pro with 64GB of RAM, but it costs about the same as a year of college.

I have a full Adobe workflow anyway, so I wouldn't switch to FCP even if I had a Mac. After Effects/Premiere Pro/Audition/Encore works just fine for me.

	never tried this in win7, but in older versions.. you were able to go into control panel/administrative tools/services and disable windows update... or you could switch it to manual in the control panel as usual...
