So I have most of the components to get started on an install in my MINI Cooper tomorrow... bought the radio, wire, and horn (its a little big, 5 IN diameter)

Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm still trying to figure out how I can mount the CB radio without it being permanent...b/c if it is permanent then I lose access to my cigarette lighter which I'll need for my GPS.

I have plenty of experience in this field!

I would suggest instead of plugging it into the cigarette lighter is to find a direct line for power. Run one from the battery if you have to.

the whole problem with this install is the engine compartment is incredibly tight and my horn is entirely too big to fit in the area where i want it to go...

the only reason that i'm keeping this horn is b/c it only cost me $5..

i'll post a pic of what I'm talking about in about 10 minutes

I've worked in a Mini (both the BMW and British Leyland varieties) and there's places you can feed power line from the battery in.

Now, I could suggest popular redneck CB install ideas like tapping the power from the fuse block, but I am not familiar with the Mini fuse block.

1.

So, the horn is kind of just sitting there on the driver side, wedged in next to I believe the brake fluid box, its as far away from the actual engine as possible, and this is really the only place i've been able to get it too fit.

Would you recommend that I purchase a smaller and more compact horn that I can put in a different area? I don't want this to get corroded since it is face up and not entirely secured, I'm worried water runoff will collect on the inside of it...I could always uninstall for the rainy season...

mount face down not face up to avoid the water collecting

I can't get the cone to fit face down in that area, its too big & it doesn't fit anywhere else.

I would say get a smaller PA and put it near the grille.

hooked it all up, but kept getting a bunch of screeching feedback, I think I bought the wrong connecting wire that goes from the horn into the CB
