Hey folks! I'm currently running a bunch of servers - mainly MS OS's. But, I am running Apache web server and have a few questions.

I know fuck-all-nothing about SQL and other database technologies. At this point one of the features I would like to add to my site is a secure forum discussion type area place. "Members Only" kinda thing ya know.

I've putzed around with MySQL and some of the off-the-shelf forum wares but I was not satisified with A> my ability to set it up and admin it securely and B> the functionality/modifiability of off-the-shelf wares.

What I'm really hoping to find is someone experienced in setting up and administiring some database applications that will assist me in getting this feature up and running. Once I have firm ground I can pick things up quickly so even though I need my hand held a little bit at first I should quickly acclimate and be fine on my own.

I have decades of computing experience and would be happy to trade whatever I have for such assistance including web hosting - file hosting - mail hosting you name it I can host it - except a decent database, that's what I'm working on now.

Unfortunently Kommandant, i think your the most expirienced in creating servers here...But i will try to find some more around here. Do you know anyone that should be added to this forum that is good with servers and/or computers?

I got a copy ill play around wiht it on my test server and see what comes up.
