no. i own my own house and my mom is advancing in years... too much small town inertia to keep me here. If you've never worked shiftwork, you don't know how stressful it is. It's literally killing us.

as I see it, you're a true car guy and a driver. you get revved up for a roll in the Cobalt! Sitting behidn the wheel of a Cruze won't give you the same rush in my opinion.

I state this from my recent experience of WAY too much time behind the wheel of an 07 Chevy truck while the BMW underwent various repairs.
I dreaded the drive every time, including the whopping 1km commute home. The minute I fired up the BMW for the trip home from the bodyshop I just about creamed my pants with excitement

Car guys use our cars as stress relief, pride, enjoyment etc....

That's always a sour note. I am driving a 2001 civic and though I'm able to get over 35 mpg It's also gutless and bland. The only thing that keeps me from falling asleep behind the wheel is the stick between me and my empty passenger seat. I got in my 65 bug to move it slightly so my grandfather could mow its place in the lawn and I just sat there for a few minutes with it running revving the engine a bit and after backing it up, took it for a romp around the yard. I wish I hadn't, because I just drove over an hour in the civic and was instantly depressed. To add insult to injury another bug was cruising down I-94 from the Michigan group I go to events with on and off. You can't really wave too much or try to relate with cars you love when you're in a regular jerk off car. It just makes you feel bad about yourself.

Life decisions are much better than car payments when the car evokes no passion or sense of oneness with the road. =P
