So i shot my first roll of black and white the other day.
It's Ilford hp5+

And here are the results.
First is just a scan of the negatives on my scanner.
Then there are the scans from my film scanner.

I think i've under exposed them?
I'm not sure though, which is why i'm asking here.

Looks way underexposed. Can you give some details on the camera used, how you metered, etc?

Nikon Fe
With a Tokina 11-16mm Lens f 2.8 (Couldn't change the aperture)
Metered in camera.
Iso 400

Was on auto and shooting at around 1000.
Bright sunny day.

Well that's your problem!

You can't change the aperture so you're basically stuck at f/22 and using a lens that is designed for crop sensor SLRs

Go and find a Nikon Series E lens, they're cheap and work well on teh FE.

Ahhh i thought it would have been stuck wide open.
Because you could press the dof preview and it would get darker?

Ive now got a 50mm ai lens on it.

That's right, the camera uses TTL metering, so it keeps it open for metering and composition. But when the shot is taken it stops it all the way down.
