It was the main structure for a Magnetite/Coal mine. The building itself was huge.

(edit, here's a couple more pic's of inside it)

We have seen the Queen of Sidney thru other explorer's pictures, in movies, tv shows....
I was hoping to go inside to check it out. Unfortunately there is two guys living in a smaller "boat" (god knows how that thing still float). Somewhat friendly guys although quick to point out that this is private propriety. they did let me take pictures from shore. I did run into an other fellow on my way out who is a friend of the owner of the land and boats. Gave me some info on how i can find him.

So i guess first i ask... if i do not like the answer, i return an other day in my ninja suit!

That ship is looking less and less like a ship every time I see it. I know it has changed hands a couple of times, the previous owner actually put some work into keeping it somewhat maintained (power generator worked and the lifeboats could be launched) and was somewhat open to the idea of giving tours although it looks like the current owner is content to just let it rot away until it sinks.

A video from 2005 (not mine):

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!

I first became aware of this, about 10 years ago, the summer my oldest boy
Bill Jr. died. You know that carnival that comes to town every year?
Well this year it came with a ride called the Mixer. The man said "Keep
your head and arms inside the mixer at all times." But Bill Jr., he was a
daredevil, just like his old man. He was leaning out saying, "Hey
everybody! Look at me, look at me!" POW! He was decapitated. They found
his head over by the snowcone concession. A few days after that, I open
up the mail and there's a pamphlet in there, from Pueblo, Colorado. And
it's addressed to Bill Jr. And it's entitled, "Do you know what the
queers are doing to our soil?"

Nice, anymore from the bowels of that particular building? A true Vancouver beauty.
