So I drove this the other night...

...I want. "Pitch Black" with red leather interior. RWD. Loaded. I am hoping to have it in 8 weeks.

Anyone who owns one, or works on them have advice/insight? I hear the 5.7's are bad with rod knocks if the oil isn't changed frequently. How's the quality otherwise since Fiat came into the picture?

For those interested, the Fiero will be retired to showcar duties. I won't ever get rid of it.

I haven't heard about the knock in the 5.7; doing a search shows some people have the issue when they are doing tuning.

Since that's a 2011, the brake issue that was present in the 2006 models is long gone due to a change of pads.

Dodge finally took the cluster-fuck the Charger used to be and turned it into a really fucking nice car. I'm excited with the direction Dodge is heading.

I say that as someone who drove a 06 Charger, hated it, and in general doesn't like Dodge/Crysler/Jeep products. I'd actually consider buying a new Dodge if I had the cash.

i have ridden in and driven the Challenger. It's cheap, chintzy and not really much fun to drive.

I dont think I'd personally describe it as a "really fucking nice car", but it certainly is a vast improvement over the previous generation of charger. I rented a few for work trips to the states and was always disappointed with the fit & finish of the interior. Not the worst I've seen, and worlds better than the Avenger (yuck!), but still disappointing. The handling on these things is pretty abysmal too...I mean, it shouldn't be surprising considering the size / weight, but I'd still hoped for better. Maybe thats been improved in the new gen...

Regardless, definitely a good choice of color. I'm still kicking myself for not getting red leather interior in my current car, because it just looks so damn nice on a black car.

Definitely post up some more pics if you do end up buying it

Also, I'd immediately replace the rims with something less flashy and see if it was available without that tacky chrome trim.

I dont know wtf it is with american car companies and their nasty obsession with chrome wheels, chrome trim and chrome accessories. I realize the intention is to make things look "classy" and "elegant", but it just ends making the car look "tacky" and "cheap". Perhaps chrome in small doses looks OK, but dont go slathering it over every possible surface.

It must be a generational thing I guess...

Drug dealers drive gaudy SUVs.
Old people and cops drive Chargers.

Drug dealers drive 300C's.

The only chrome trim is on the edges of the grille/crosshairs... doesn't seem like overkill, although the R/T "Road and Track" package removes it. I don't mind it, or the wheels, unless it starts peeling or flaking off.

This made me smile.

It's true though, full size cars seem to have been adopted by gangstas and eminem wannabes.

Chrysler 300/C, Crown Vics/Maurauders, the last gen Chargers, and anything BMW is just asking for police attention.

EDIT: and if you ask me, the redesign is meant to distinguish civilian cars from the old Chargers. I'm serious.... the taillights give it away and there's no way a cop would have that gigantic rear tail light that's on the new Charger.
