Fooling around with new camera

I recently got my first DSLR (I had a film one before, and I have had a digital P&S), and I have been trying it out. I have a Rabel XTi. I have not had a chance to get any extras for it yet, so they were taken with the standard lens.

For reasons that I will not go into right now, I can not get out to do much on the street photography, so I have been doing shots around the house, mostly of various flowers that my mom has and my 8 month old nephew. All of these pics are unedited, except for the re-sizing that photobucket did when I uploaded.

Let me know what you think.

This one I have as my current desktop picture

You have a ways to go with composing, but for now editing will help a lot.

I have the same camera. It's a godsend. A word of advice, get yourself a copy of Adobe Lightroom. It can be found easily on any torrent site (I got mine off of Torrentspy.com, but it crashes a bit too often for my liking lol) It makes editing your digital photographs so simple its disgusting.

In what respect? A dull/boring image? Colour? Composition? What?

The bridge/water lacks contrast is what I'd imagine he means; And it's how I feel. I really like the composition.

.....well kinda.

http://www.canalfest.org/

I didn't really take pictures of what was going on at Canal Fest, I just happened to be there and decided to roam around. I found a neat train bridge thats fun to climb.

Heres the train bridge:

And I decided to climb up the side of it on a ladder right here:

To take this picture:

I heard people yelling "HEY!" at me but I just ignored them and got down. I wasn't in the mood for dealing with the cops. If I'm in the area again I'm getting on the top.

At one of the stores down there I seen cameras in a case. Picked this up for $40

Fun day.

I like the composition, and I dig the foreground. The backround seems bleak.

Do you remember what time of day this was taken? Go during a sunrise/set and re-shoot this.

Thats a pretty neat path.
