Hi I'm Chris, in Raleigh Durham area in NC. New to this but I am trying to learn! Hope to meet others. Has anyone ever done urban exploring by canoe? There are tons of rivers around here and I am getting a canoe this spring for camping river trips, there are lots of rivers around here.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this but I'm learning fast. I discovered UE from a magazine article and it got me interested. I'm currently searching for places for my first official explore, I have a few places in mind but I need to do some more research first. Sadly I live in New Jersey so a lot of great places are under heavy police surveillance because of the exposure Weird NJ gave them (I'm also a little afraid of getting arrested or badly injured while exploring).

Well that looks like fun.

You'll no doubt easily find folks to mingle with on here if you've already got that going for ya.

Hey guys. My names David, I'm 18, and from the Philadelphia area. Two of my friends and I have recently gotten into urban exploration. I've been to almost every abandoned place within 30 min of me, and I am always looking for more. I love being spontaneous and going out on adventures. Anyways, I figured I should join and talk with like-minded people (a lot of people seem to think I'm odd for exploring), and maybe find some cool new places to go.

Hello all. I'm Austin from Simi Valley, CA. I've been exploring in my area for a while now and have found some interesting locations over the years. Among my favorite places to explore are drains, tunnels, and caves/mines. I hope to further expand my explorations to include various abandoned building establishments. My goal here is to receive knowledge and wisdom from the members of this site, as well as to provide personal tips and resources for those who may profit from such.
I look forward to meeting you all!

Hello all. My name is Mark and I stumbled onto this site looking for interesting destinations to ride my motorcycle to. I have only been on 2 trips which I would consider UE.

The first was to a place that used to build hitches for trucks. All the equipment had been removed so it was basically a dirty building with some scrap steel and odds and ends laying around that must have not been worth the effort to pickup.
This was several years ago before everyone had digital cameras in their pocket.

The second was at an old monastery that was converted to a hospital and spa because it had natural springs in the basement. Once the spa had gone bankrupt the building was bought by some sort of cult I'm told and they kept it until the 90's and has been since bought and maintained by the city that it is in. It isn't posted, but does say visitors by appointment only. I parked my motorcycle in the back corner of the parking lot and started to walk up only to see a cop car come flying into the parking lot and demanding I leave. The gate was open, and I don't think I broke any laws, but figured it best to leave.

I live and mostly ride in rural Midwest, so hopefully I will find some neat antique barns and mills to check out.

Hey guys I'm pretty new to urbex in general but I generally consider myself a decent photographer. I wanted to have something to talk about before posting so I explored a few places on campus. I'm going to post the photos I took.

I go to Miami University of Ohio in Oxford but i'm from Indianapolis. I haven't really done much there except general photography.

anyway thats pretty much it. I'm pretty friendly so if you wanna know more just ask!

Edit
I'm attaching one of the photos I took about an hour ago. Done with an iphone though so don't expect anything great.

Hi, I'm brand new here. Amateur photographer with an obsession for UE photographs but not the guts to enter, YET. I just toured a former asylum, did an unofficial tour of the grounds then took the official tour. From west Michigan. Apparently my photos are too big to attach. Sorry, I'll work on that. I have a couple places I want to explore, one tentative explore in may or so, a location I have seen mentioned on a forum here somewhere.

Hey!

My name is Jordan, I am a 23 year old College student from Eastern Wisconsin and have been doing Urbex for years without really considering myself an "Urban Explorer" or even knowing that there was a community revolving around it. Every since I was in Grade School my friends and I would always spending our free time exploring our hometown; whether it be hanging out on abandoned railroad bridges, sneaking into derelict electric dams and particularly a abandoned Water Treatment Plant that I remember most fondly.

I eventually took up Photography and while being a Landscape and Low Light cityscape photographer most of the time, I have also enjoyed the challenge of sneaking into places that I "shouldn't be" to satisfy my natural lust for adventure and to capture some pictures that might not have ever been taken before.

When a good friend of mine enlightened me to the Urbex community (along with this website) I was finally able to get some incite into what other people were doing, equipment they were using and all the other information compiled on this hobby all around the internet. I am really excited to finally join the community, share my experiences and hopefully explore far more than I have in the past!

I'm really glad to be here! Hope to talk to you all on the forums!

Hey guys! My name is Frank and I am not new to the idea of urban exploration but I am new to both actually doing it and the forum. I've been to 2 places, some dinky houses near me (LAME!) and an old industrial plant which was pretty cool. I am really into photography and that is what initially turned me on to urban exploring and it's really all I want to do right now. I live in the suburbs of Philly about 15 minutes outside King Of Prussia. If you're in my area let me know!

Greetings from Amherstburg Ontario.

I"ve always had an interest in checking out abandoned places, but no real way to "scratch the itch" if you will. Especially living in such a small town as Amherstburg was growing up, where everyone's business was someone elses it seemed.

Doesn't help that I admittedly am very socially inept and never was given much of a chance to get to know people in person and hang out with them.

Just wanted to give a thank you to everyone here who has hosted their stories and images of their exploits to see places I only dream of traveling to.

Hello everyone. I am from the Louisville Kentucky area.

Not really good at introductions..

I've been very lightly exploring for 13 years, but I'm ready to step it up and see much more. I've been interested in photography for about 13 years as well.

I hope to contribute to the forum and get to know some people.

Hello from Northern Ontario!

I've done some urban stuff in the past, with not with as much intent as the people on here, keen to do more.

I actually struggle as many of my photos (photos are my main driver for doing this) have been with approved access to document things like underground workings / tunnels, so now need to work on the less cushy way to get things done!

Anyway, here a few photos I had to hand when doing this post...

Take care!

Hi everyone! I'm Morgan from Boston, MA. I'm pretty shy, but I look forward to learning more about UE. I actually made an account here a while back, but I've only just gotten around to introducing myself. I got my love of exploring abandoned places from my mom (I come from an interesting family) and would like to do more of it, so far I've only visited an abandoned hospital, a farm (which turned out to have a bunch of archeological and geological stored in the basement), and one or two old houses in the woods. I'm currently trying to convince some of my friends to go UE with me.

Sorry for the crappy iPhone photos! This is from the barn I explored with my sister, mom and girlfriend. We were taking my mom out for her birthday and stumbled across this place by accident and decided to go in. Some of the lights were still working but as we got further into the basement of the building all the light switches had rotted away and we had to switch to the lights on our phones. We found such cool stuff in the basement! Apparently it had been used as storage for the archeology and geology departments of the local college back in the 30's, and they had left a bunch of stuff their and then forgotten about it. We found all kinds of cool rocks and shells, bones, fossils, shark teeth, a mastodon tooth, and a few prehistoric spear heads and sculptures. They were wrapped in newspaper from the thirties and stuffed in cabinets that were rotting away and falling apart. My girlfriend was freaking out the whole time convinced we were going to get caught, she does not share my love of UE.

Hiya! If you're reading this it means you aren't dead (yay!) and that means we can be friends (double-yay!)!

My "name" is Koko and I've been wanting to fill the hole in my life where adventure has been missing, so, after years of aimless wandering, I came here. I've always loved abandoned houses/factories/tunnels/zucchini and learning/seeing things that most people don't. This place is seems better than anything I've even gotten CLOSE to learning about and I would love to get to know everyone and explore with anyone near me.

Thank's for reading (and not being dead, because that would be weird) and I look forward to talking more

IMMEDIATE EDIT: Also, I'm not into photography all that much, so I most likely won't have very many pictures to share, sorry
