Mazdaspeed2 is coming. < on 11/10/2011 5:47 PM > | Reply with Quote
Mazda actually has been talking about it. Claiming they will use the best turbo they have to make it yield interesting results.
Some guys on the mazda forums put a gt15 turbo in the base 1.5L engine and got over 165HP with some adjustments of course. but the potential here is high. And im excited.
thats ALOT of power for a 2300lbs car.
considering with the swap over 280+ tork! ershekrjhsekrjhserkjshrsjer
tork steer seems like a porblem as the MS3 has issues with it. not that that really is a problem.
good lord i am in love.
i really want an na miata with ls swap. and a speed2.

THIS.
my brother used to have a 2008.5 speed 3 (till he lost his drivers license, my mother now drives a 2008.5 speed 3 with flashed ecu, intake, exhaust, dropped on 2010 speed 3 rims, tint, coming from a 2003 ford focus might I add) and the torque steer was so bad it completely took the fun out of the car. my mother drives the thing like her focus (or any 50 year old woman really), so she doesn't even know what torque steer is, so I guess it's a perfect car for her.

idk tho. im no expert but the MINI JCW GP was praised for having over 200+ HP/TK and having little tork steer cuz of its size/short wheel base.
so who knows. ill be happy with mine with my GT15 on stock 1.5

I dont think the torque steer on the MS3 is as bad as people claimed it to be....then again Ive only ever driven the 2nd gen versions (2010+)....maybe they improved things.
its neat to see someone thinking outside the box, but I just dont like the 2 and wouldnt drive one myself. props to fitting the engine in that tiny thing though...must have been fun.

thats what happens when you put an all aluminum 5.3L V8 in a front wheel drive!
This makes sense (unfortunately), but somehow back in 1966 when GM introduced the first American FWD car since the Cord in the 30's, they managed to keep the torque steer so low it was difficult for the average driver to realize the car had FWD.
High Five to my 454 powered '69 Toronado that I never had running. If only we have the means to keep (and fix) them all...
GM broke new ground with the awesome Toronado, and was the first North American company to introduce and build a modern FWD vehicle here. I like good cars no matter what the layout.
If they could make that 454 smooth in '66, Shirley they can tame the Impala. I rented one last year for a quick 1000 mile 2 lane highway trip. Totally impressed, and for me seeing an aluminum front subframe on a 'normal' car was a nice shock. Could have used more power for passing semis on the highway though. I kept thinking, damn, I'd like an SS version of this... I believe it had the 3400, and was a 2010 model.
I swapped it and got an upgrade in Calgary, because the CVT Sentra I rented pulled so bad to the left, and the CVT is a fail fest on the highway, and not much fun anywhere. Pardon off topic rant.

it was actually a 455 Oldsmobile V8... 454 was a Chevy V8. I drove both the Monte Carlo SS V8 and the Impala SS V8 and oddly enough, the Impy SS was faster. Not sure why, but the Monte Carlo had less yank when you fired the throttle through the floorpan.

I know on the law enforcement side, when the 2000 Impala became available with an 9C1 package, there was a bunch of officers who complained about torque steering being so bad while in pursuit, it felt like the power steering pump failed. After the Michigan State Police and its vehicle testing team looked into the issue, GM made a change on the power steering system by putting in a fluid cooler and that made things much better.

Yep, I got my numbers off. Without checking I believe the first Toro in '66 was a 425, then the 455. The 455 drivetrain was also used in a GM Motorhome, very rugged design. They knew it better be good or FWD would not be given any respect. Overbuilt beasts.
Just guessing but maybe weight, gearing, how well broken in it was, reg or high test gas. Some engines just seem or are quicker than the same engine in another car. If California still has higher emissions standards, maybe the Monte was a Cal car that got sent to the wrong state...

Thats all poop. Poop poop poop poop nothing worth mention or anything to get excited about. The 1991 Sentra SE-R had 140hp and weighed a little less than 2300 pounds. Considering technology today, i expect more than knocking on the heels of a car made 20 years ago.

yeah but that had a GT-Resque badge so thats why it had the extra HP
/dohoho
some guy on some youtube vid was arguing with everyone over him saying the se-r came 260 stock
also mazda isnt even making this car (hopefully they will) but they do plan on using the MS3 induction system so idk what the output will be.
