Friend of mine was killed last night in a car accident in his 07 Cobalt SS/SC... he was drinking, driving too fast on a back road and took his girlfriend with him... the couple in the back of the car were thrown clear.

That's awful, I'm sorry to hear that. I lost 5 friends in 2 different accidents in 2003, one of which could have been prevented by common sense and the other by not drinking and driving.

when i was in highschool the chateauguay river killed at least one student in my highschool a year due to impared driving, ive been through this TOO many times

more has come out about the mechanics of the crash. just before the crash, they had come down off the mountain. How that car made it through the corners, I'll never know. The blew through a four-way, all-stop intersection at over 90mph, either missed the corner or slid (bald tires at all four corners) and left the road at an estimated 110-120mph, flying into a 25ft deep ravine. The car hit a tree sideways, 13 feet in the air and then rolled over. The two passengers in the backseat were ejected out the back window. Both are alive, the guy was released from the hospital and home. The girl was in intensive care, but has been rated in stable condition. The driver and the front seat passenger died at the scene. By the look of the passenger side of the car, and the impact it took, i would say that she died instantly.

isn't it funny? it's always over stupid shit. what made this kid think he could beat the odds. Bald tires? ok. we can handle that. high speed + bald tires? ok, you're pushing it, but we might pull it off. High speed + bald tires + drunk + fully loaded vehicle + winter-sanded road... pushing your luck too far.

What's even funnier (and I don't mean funny ha ha) is that I have the same car. My car, honestly, scares me. Always has. It's the fastest thing I have ever owned and I have been driving 20+ years. This kids' Cobalt was even faster than mine, but he never had that fear of it or respect for what it could do. And now he's dead because of it.

The guy wasn't a close friend, but he was a friend. Oh he was a mouth son of a bitch sometimes. I mean, you just wanted to turn around and put his dentist in a new tax bracket. The guy had gotten a DWI before this and knew better... the shitty part was that he took that girl with him. It's one thing to ice yourself, but to take people with you is shitty.

Man, the poor families, especially the girls – I’ve got daughters & worry about who they might drive with. I remember being a passenger & yelling at the driver to no avail (and vise-versa).

We’ve had lots of fatal accidents locally the past two months – so many so that PA added/changed some laws.

this is fucking my operator at work up... they were all at the same place right before this all happened. He thought that the girl was going to drive her car, so he snatched the keys to her Neon. He never thought to grab Quigley's keys. I told him that even if he had, Quigley always kept a spare key in his wallet.

the autopsy/cause of death was released today. Both died of blunt force trauma consistent with the an auto accident. The toxicology shit hasn't come back yet.
