Currently waiting on my insurance company to call me back.

At least I'm not at fault... it's pretty hard to be at fault when the car you hit had just rebounded off a guardrail at 100kph and is moving against traffic more or less at you.

You are somewhat lucky not to be at fault. In Quebec, if you rear-end someone, you will ALWAYS be at fault.

Same here - in this case, though, the front of my car hit the front of their car, as they ended up facing the wrong way after hitting the guardrail and shooting across 3 lanes of traffic before hitting me (they started in the fast lane, I was in the slow lane).

Sorry that I wasn't clear in the first post - just reread it and realized that I did a piss poor job explaining it. My head really isn't in the game today.

in quebec, no matter what its your own insurance that pays. I rear ended a nissan x trail 2 years ago, had minor damage, didnt need to fix, he had about 3000$ in damage, didnt hurt my insurance a lick.

What a coincidence...we also found out today that my mom's 13-year-old Sienna has a major oil leak and shot brakes. Car-shopping time is near!

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

One of my coworkers got into a huge accident this afternoon so I need to come into work two hours ahead of schedule. Yay?

Can you say rear-ended ?

For the records, the driver of the white car slammed the brakes when the traffic light turned yellow. My friend (driving the blue piece of trash 1981 pickup) was towing a 10ft trailer and could not stop in time.

and like me, your friend has probably 300$ in damage, dont declare it fix it your self. his insurance will only go up if the other guys insurance actually reports it... which rarely happens! believe me, ive rear ended a few people lol

same goes for here. Own insurer pays, then recovers from responsible parties insurer.

when it comes to auto it almost always happens. Here, the auto insurance uses fault charts to determine who is responsible for what percentage of damage. Theres no real disputing it as its laid out for all insurance companies in the same format

Insurance called, car is fixable although the damages are more expensive than I expected. Going to work on finding out what exactly the adjustor found wrong... but at least I'm getting the car back!

based on the photo alone, a new front clip with paint, bumper rebar, and possible straightening. It adds up surprisingly fast

I've yet to see a "blend job" that was undetectable.

More damage than that, sadly. The fog and headlight (can't see it well in the photos, but it was scratched to hell) are both toast, the washer fluid tank is in several pieces, the rad shroud has a beautiful crack down the back of it, and my A/C condenser got punctured.

Still, whatever, I'm getting my car back and it has no frame, engine, or axle damage. I'll take it happily.
