Check out
www.rac.ca Grab the IC practice exam generator off their site, and get a copy of the RAC Basic Study Guide. Once you are done the guide, you can try your had with the generator, which uses questions from the basic exam.
Look for a local amateur radio club in your area (rac.ca has a database I believe). Hook up with them, and see if they offer a course. You can take that if you dislike the self-study route.
