Is this hotel still open for exploration. I'm wanting to hit it. Maybe meetup with someone.

I just drove by there today. I didn't see any security on site, and the doors are only boarded up. I'm sure it wouldn't be terribly difficult to get inside.

PM Budda if you haven't gotten in yet, he's pretty knowledgeable about the place.

Last I checked the place is sealed up pretty well, but it's kinda at that point that broken windows come and go so there might be something. There's a guard who comes at night. I walked out the front door once and greeted him, and left with a "Don't come back," but he might not be as nice to you so be wary. He got there around 10 when I was there.

Also, i recommend a mask. The mold was really bad when I was there 2 years ago.

If you haven't been in yet, I'd say it's not really worth it... Having been inside and checking out every accessible floor, driving around looking for more interesting locations would be a better way to spend the day. Or, get in and spend some time on the first floor, then leave.

I just drove a lap around the parking lot during the day, as I was merging into the I-275 only lane I saw the police tearing it down the access road that parallels route 4. As climbed the ramp onto the highway he was just sort of circling the building. Had I stayed just a minute longer, I probably would have been answering some questions. Bottom line someone is at least occasionally watching the place.

Honestly it's just not worth it with the security. When I went there 2 years ago it was totally untouched, and was really eerie. I won't lie, it was a pretty cool explore in the regards it's like everyone just got up and walked away mid shift. If by some freak chance the insides are still close to that pristine it'd be kinda cool, but given the increase in boarded POEs, not to mention a large dumpster I saw out front that they were loading with building supplies, I'd say that ship may have sailed. And maybe if it was historically significant that'd be cool, but it's just another one of those mid 70s econoboxes.

Here's what you're missing. 9 floors of mold ranging from just a smell to "I can't breathe" severe as you go up, not to mention the most disgusting kitchen I have ever seen. 2 unique floors with 8 upstairs duplicates, give or take some half assed incomplete mold repair, and a kinda cool rooftop with sub par views for it's height.

I was caught by the night guard on my 3rd trip there. Despite being let go without charges, I still vote don't bother. If you must get your econobox hotel fill, the Dayton Executive hotel is in a far more interesting state of Decay.

I used to work at the Rodeway Inn when it was a Howard Johnson's. I've been in every room there so anything you want to know just ask.

Plus it's a shame about the DEH that's where the after parties used to be held from enshrinement dinners at the Aviation Hall of fame specifically they were in Giorgio's. (Used to go every year) I met some really cool people at those.

The people you meet there today aren't quite as friendly. Mostly meth heads and vandals from what I hear.

But it's the only hotel with a makeshift swing!
