Oh yes, I stand by that. But the gas can be worse. One time I cut one that smelled so bad, it made a friend sitting about three meters away throw up. And we were outside.
My friend Spelonker is a well-prepared, conscientious explorer. On overnights outings, he brings biodegradable bags to shit in, which he then packs out to the nearest trash. At least, when he remembers to.
He once forgot such a bag high up in a building. I think I even inadvertently got it in one of my photos of the place. Since he only remembered it after we'd left the site, he picked it up on our subsequent visit. Talk about setting an example – somebody get the man FM!
A poo with a view:
The best time to explore was [however long] ago; the second best time is now. – Chinese proverb
I've seen that pic before, but never the actual artifact.
Edit: I recognize the room where the photo was taken. Surprisingly, it's adjacent to what used to be a washroom (with plumbing and a flush toilet), as well as a kitchen. I wonder why there was ever a need for this thing, here.
That particular relic has probably been sent sailing, along with most movable objects from that place. The stove and green metal cabinet are still there.

I went down to an army base in Central Coast CA... Some people off a yahoo group (I think) hadn't been there so I took them with me. Free ride and a chance to revisit. It was a lady and her boyfriend who was in a ska band.
We're in the big bldg which was a truck repair shop I believe. The one with that bicycle in it for years... We go upstairs and there hanging on a pipe is a tshirt. A tshirt with the logo of the ska band the guy was is. And clearly someone had been desperate and without TP... so he has used the shirt. And apparently someone was proud of this and hung it up on the pipe... She says to him "Did you see that?" and points to it. He says "yeah" and kinda sorta half laughs/huffs. Imagine the odds....

Was this in an abandoned army base? I'm presuming yes, but just checking
