Hey everyone. I'm new to UER but not exploring. I've been doing this for roughly six years now. I kind of fell ass backwards into this hobby lol. In my first year of college I took a humanities class. One of our projects was to break down and document art and architecture. We were assigned into groups. We all decided to go to Detroit to take pictures at the DIA and the surrounding area. Long story short one of my group members took us to Michigan Central Station and I've been hooked ever since.

Welcome!

Well there's a reason for the box cutter and the crowbar lol. I bought the crowbar because one of the places we went to had auto locks on the doors. If for any reason we got locked inside, we needed a tool to get ourselves out. I haven't had to use it yet. I also carry it in hand for personal protection when exploring in Detroit.

The box cutter was for slicing open the plastic wrap on our respirators. I just threw the knife in my bag so it wouldn't be sitting in my girls car. Been in there ever since.

Great way to get charged with felony B&E. You might want to revise your toolkit a little. There's lots of stuff that'll hold doors open, like... a wooden block.

Most neighborhoods where you'd have to actually worry about using a crowbar on someone, they'll likely shoot you first; or, they and 6 of their friends will all use their crowbars and bats and golfclubs on you.

Better to avoid confrontation than to look like you're looking for it.

But you'll figure all of this out in time. Welcome =)

ok guys hi

i go by Otto and i am from the Cincinnati area and have lived here all my life. have always loved old abandoned buildings and place that have seem to be frozen in time. Never had go out exploring myself until recently but i want to do more soon. sadly at the moment i dont have a camera (due to a car mount failure while driving) I am 20 years old and a full time student in Dayton Ohio and also work full time as a technician at a local BMW dealership

i was shown to this website by jellybeans95 who is like my big sister lol.

Also i am a huge car fanatic so when i do get a camera again dont be surprised if somehow one of my cars sneaks into a picture or two lol

glad to be here and hope to be around for a while and help add to the site
thanks

There were plastic bags holding all the auto lock doors open. The crowbar was just in case shit hit the fan. You always have to plan for the worst case scenario. I'd rather bust my way out than call 911.

You can rationalize anything, sir. That's not the point. Point is getting caught with it, and if thats REALLY all you're using it for, you can use other things as door stops. If you use it as a door stop in the first place then you dont HAVE IT to bust out with.

You'll find a tough crowd around here if you're an advocate of UE'ing with crowbars.

I'm Chaos and I come from a small town in Kentucky. I have always had an interest in Urban Exploration, for about as long as I can remember. My mother was a real estate agent so I always got to go into houses that were abandoned and falling apart. My dad was a photographer so I learned how to wield a camera over the years. I have done some exploring in later years as well. I am currently reading "Access all Areas" to learn more about the art of UE before I go exploring this summer.

My advice is to leave the crowbar at home in your toolbox and forget about it! Carrying it, using it, getting caught with it, none of them are good. No one will talk to you if you carry it or use it, and the police will bury you if you are caught with it, doubly if you've used it.

Just forget you even own it til you're trapped in your own house and need to destroy your own property to escape when the shit hits the fan.
