Road trip to Goderich (26 pics)
< on 8/3/2021 12:22 AM >

I took my first visit to the Town of Goderich this weekend. Here is what I found both on the way and within the town:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.

7.

8.

9. At the side of a busy hwy. so I didn't risk entry

10. 10 to 13 are buildings in Goderich

11.

12. The view of Lake Huron would be spectacular from this house

13.

14.

15. I walked away disappointed but I managed to get the VW in the shot so not a total loss

16. I barely noticed this one as I drove by from all the greenery

17.

18.

19.

20. My first forgotten train car! There used to be one in Orangeville at the McDonalds. We had birthday parties there as children

21.

22.

23.

24.

25. The color of the brick made me stop for a closer look

26.

I scoped out a few others in the area that I plan on visiting in the fall. I'm happy to say that this was the first tick-free explore since early April.

I have family in Goderich and learned that their home has "heritage" status. It was built in the mid 18's so it's roughly 170 old. It sure is a beauty but I doubt they want me posting it.

Thanks for looking

The upstairs view in #6 is amazing!... though not the kind of place that I'd be wanting to take even a short step away from the safe little haven around the stairwell. On the other hand, I have to admit that it would be fun to go upstairs and start jumping around right on top of #18.

I love exploring spots like these ones. Partly because they look so horrifically bad in terms of air quality to anyone that hasn't actually experienced this hobby, when in reality they're often the ones with a nice breeze inside and not even a hint of mushroom-y smell.

The building from 14/15 was completely covered in scat and the smell was terrible. Unfortunately, my strongest of the 5 senses is my sense of smell.

I love photos 13/16. Really neat stuff. I'm appreciating these abandoned houses a lot more now than I used too..

Did you go to the port in goderich? I have been peeping the silos for awhile, but can't tell how much of the area is disused from google maps..

I did check out the port. It's pretty cool down there:

It's a tourist gong show down where the old rail station is.

Awesome pics. Love the bright green summer colors. Did you research these places in advance or just keep an eye out as you were driving?

Man, beauty pics, love that narrow building. Planning a trip that way late fall/early winter, maybe I'll see ya there. Scope out anything to the south?

I didn't go further south but I will be in the future as I have a sister who lives in Goderich.

The barn being eaten is a nice shot, it has a nice vibe to it. Goderich is pretty cool for it's size, it has at least one museum and found the old/new section, where the F5 Tornado went through to be interesting.

I fell in love with Goderich and the surrounding area. I hope to return for some winter explores.
