I've been doing a little research lately, and I've come across another potentially awesome site near an old canal that runs through Ottawa. It's an institution, very similar in design and scale to the institution I posted about a few days ago.
Has anyone on this board ever been to this place? I heard it was purchased by some developer last summer to turn into a retirement home. I can't seem to find it in the DB, so I figured it's probably not a public listing.

If you mean the former Hershey's, it is a no-go. New activity at the plant.
If you mean a large multi-building institution, it's secured, no current way inside and patrolled.
If you mean a medical institution, it had easy access until a few months ago but it's cyclic as with all institutions. Wait a week and a day and it reopens.

| | | | It's a regional center, named for the area. And the multi-building place is to what I was referring. That's too bad, I was hoping that I might be able to check out that place, too.
Maybe I'll be lucky and the developer will run out of money and the place won't be touched.

Yup, it's RRC, but I wasn't aware that the place was the OPP headquarters for the area. I read a CBC article from July of last year saying the place had been sold to a developer to turn it into a community for senior citizens. I thought you might be thinking of a different place because the only buildings nearby are houses and businesses. Interesting.

| | | | The place is huge, did a walk around of the joint, tried to gain legal access but no one was home, everything is locked pretty tight.
