I went here today with a friend. I want to go back, as we only scratched the surface. This place is huge.

Nice shots, I don't think it's possible for even a team of explorers to photograph the entire place. Seems you were looking through files, did you find anything to suggest either when it was built or closed? I've always wondered but can't find anything.

Place always leaves me stunned... Like Weirdling said, Did you find that file about 1939 in the open? Or was it in one of the file cabinets?

Thanks guys. No, I didn't go through any files - everything was just out in the open. I took another picture that I didn't end up processing/posting from October 31, 1968 - letting a team of workers know that their jobs were being terminated. I know the facility in general had been in use since 1913 and most likely closed sometime in the late 70's / early 80's.

That telegraph really made the set for me. That's really cool.

We dug through some files on our first visit, all health insurance info. A surprising amount of said info on each individual employee was about their testicles. It was one of like five things listed, lol.

Cool, this place definitely warrants a return visit.

A friend on facebook said his grandfather used to work there back in the day, and that it was still an active site in the late 70's. He's going to get more information for me.

I thought this place was being used as some kind of warehouse for a lumber yard or contractor... you did a great job with the place, when I was last there a LOTb of the floors were ready to go...

Kind of, they just have a small corner where planks are stored. It's about a percent of the location's size and only obstructs twenty or so shots...lol, says alot about how much there is to see.

An explorer told me the door opened once and a guy asked if he was messing with the plywood. When he said he was just shooting they left him alone.

If you look at sat photos of the place, the land behind the locomotive shop was being used to store old MBTA buses and trains. Those aren't there anymore, instead all of the lumber, and lots of it, is being stored outside. There wasn't any lumber being stored inside.

When I was there, the latest dated papers I could find were from 1986 or 1989.

Things change there frequently, but it's been a while since there have been any dead buses.

Sooner or later some doofus is going to tag "www.uer.ca" on those stacks of plywood.

At least if that did happen, all of the plywood isn't enough to actually seal the place.
