What is the difference between exploring and being lost?"
| | Exploring with Pets < on 4/26/2012 3:41 PM >
| | | I see some pictures of explores involving pets (dogs) and for me,it would seem like a very bad idea, because the dog could attract attention by barking (if it saw or smelled wildlife)or running out to greet anyone that showed up during the explore Plus I wouldn't have to worry about what my dog is getting into,or wandering off What are your feelings about bringing your dog(s)along? | | | Yeah mine is similar, and most buildings here are from the asbestos age and I didn't find a mask that would fit my dog. So no I am not risking my dogs life in any way.

| | | I own a small puppy a pomeranian. 11 months old I would not risk taking him in with me. I have seen videos and pics of other people bringing dogs with them. Will post a pic of him when I get home.

DISCRETION IS A CHOICE

| | | Leaving your dog at home locked in your place is meaner then bringing them with. Dogs aren't pussies. Cats are. And obviously it's specific to your dog, they are all different, just like us crazy people. [last edit 4/27/2012 9:39 AM by Gunner Trees - edited 2 times]

| | | Maybe in her younger days my girl would have been able to explore, but she's getting on in years and arthritis makes it hard for her to explore much

| | | Crating never harmed a canine, but a hard fall will. Nails and other debris can badly cut them. Some do bring them everywhere, your choice. Cats are cool critters even if they don't splore with you.
Your security measures were inadequate. How unfortunate for you. |

| | | In most locations I wouldn't bring my dog in due to the hazards involved such as nails, broken glass...dogs don't wear shoes. On top of that, there is also the possibility of said dog drinking something it shouldn't, say a puddle of water that has been contaminated with various possible chemicals. However, I have brought my dog along on an outside tour of a few places as well as in to an abandoned hospital that was clean as it had just been shut down.

Be aware there may be caustics or other harmful chemicals within easy reach of a curious canine's nose or tongue at some sites.

| | | Hahaa! I personally wouldn't bring a pet, too much of a liability. I mean, if it was an absolutely no worries spot, maybe.

| | | Sweet to see other explorers with elderly doggies. My 14 year old beagle mix probably wouldn't even get out of the car if I took him to an abandonment. But, if he were young and spry I still wouldn't take him with me, unless it was a walkabout exterior-only type of explore. That's about as dangerous as taking my young child.
