| | | What kind of lumen output does a standard minimag bulb have?

Good luck converting the 2,200CP cited on the Maglite site into lumens as the two units are not equal. A lumen is equal to the amount of energy emanating from a square meter surface, while a candlepower (or candela) is the amount of energy a light source produces in a given direction of a green light (540E12 Hz or ~555nm) that has the intensity of 1/683 watts per steradian. One (lumen) is radiance, whereas the other (candela) is illuminance and thus they are not measuring the same thing, but can be converted with some field testing: need to know how large of an area a light illuminates at a known distance to convert between the two.

| | | According to http://flashlightreviews1.home.att.net/reviews/maglight_minimag.htm , the stock minimag bulb (which is, of course, dimmer than the nicer replacment one from Radio Shack, highly recommended) is ~1000 lumens/M2... that's with the crappy stock lens, of course.
