| | | theres probably no better place to ask in the world than here. im thinking really i want to shoot pov movies UE. any suggestions on what camera to get? go pro is what i had in mind also any help on lighting? the place i go to is pitch black 75% the time will it look like crap with just my 2 flashlights lighting it? do i need like some heavy duty 7 trillion lumen light? im wanting to max out at 500 bucks and would be ok picking up used stuff if i found a good deal. also it has to be rugged as thats of key importance. basically just any pointers from someone who has experience with it, your words arent on deaf ears

| | | First recommendation for POV video would definitely be a GoPro. Hands-free, good quality. Not great in low lighting as far as I know. As for lighting... are you looking to go to one specific place to film multiple times? Or is this going to be used for exploring many different places? I'm assuming there will be no power to plug into either? What is the subject you are filming? A drain, buildings, people... A little extra info on the project might help out.

| | | The gopro is the way to go, and as for lighting a flash light will work as long as its nice and bright

| | | cat & tie - the main place that i go to is here in louisville it a 100 yr old+ former brewery & ice house. its 13 stories and an butt load of sq ft but im not sure the number. it once claimed to be the largest ice house in the south. and is mostly solid brick with no windows or outside light. i truly love this place and this will probably be my main place until i find something better (doubt i will). yeah the go pro was the first choice. im already currently shooting a 720 vid with my digital camera and it works ok but its not pov and in low/no light it looks like crap and you cant really see anything + the max lenght clip is like 8 min at a time and i just want to turn it on entering and let it run till leaving

| | | As far as I know The GoPro and Contour are the two main contenders in the helmet camera game. IMO Gopro takes slightly better quality and the Contour looks cooler/ is more sleek. I have the contour and really like it, you can check out the video: http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=102722 This video was taken using a light with about 30 lumens, and you can see areas that although I was able to see perfectly, the video was completely black. Both cameras have small lenses so they perform HORRIBLY in low light conditions. You really have two options for low light conditions, the first is to simply add more light to the equation. For best picture, mount the light to whatever the camera is mounted to (ideally your head) so you would likely want a headlamp with major lumen (300 minimum for basic quality). The second option is to take the basic helmet camera and upgrade the lens. An option I have looked into is an IR light/lens combo. The way I understand it is that the lens is slightly larger and accepts infrared light put out by a special IR light you use in place of/in conjunction with your visible light. The benefit to this would be the ability to record video in pure black visible light and records good video in light that you can see with your eyes but a normal lens wouldn't be able to detect. Heres a link to a company that modifies and sells cameras with IR capabilities: http://ragecams.co...9519977b9b17193ef2 Hope this helps!

It's better than others, yes...but he is missing the big message. By typing the way he does, he looks like an idiot. Some of his responses have made him look like a troll. He has refused to listen to members of this site who have been around the block a couple of times. I can't say for certain if he read any of the posts in the Newbie forum that were put there to help noobs like him. If someone isn't willing to listen to constructive criticism, then I fear their life on UER will be short. Note: We are all human and make spelling / grammar mistakes. But we at least attempt to look intelligent while doing so. Ya know, paragraphs and complete sentences helps.
