| | | Hello! < on 7/8/2012 9:08 PM >
| | | Hi there! I joined the site last week after finding it through a search for urbex communities. While I'm new to the forums, I'm not new to urban exploring. I grew up in a small town in Illinois and spent a lot of my free time adventuring the cities and countrysides, and three years ago moved to California. I've lived in Los Angeles and San Jose, and just recently moved to Sacramento. I have a few places I'd like to share from Illinois and SoCal, is it okay to post about places we've been to several years ago or is that sort of thing looked down upon here? I'm really looking forward to meeting other explorers in the area!

What is the difference between exploring and being lost?"

Noooo,we don't judge people by what they look like in UE. Not at all. Whatever gave you that impression. Judgements should be based solely on the photographs people make, how many batteries in their torch, the number of Tabi boots they own and how many posts they can make on a forum. Welcome to the forums Rasmirin. I hope to see and hear of your travels.
Yes, *THAT* guy. |

| | | Thanks for the welcome! I've been working on sorting through and cleaning up some of my old pics, and hope to share some of the places I've been to in the appropriate locations forums soon!

| | | Welcome! Looking forward to seeing what you've got to share, there's no statute of limitations on your shots so knock yourself out. If anything older is better, less tags and scrapping.

| | | Welcome and enjoy! I would love to see what you have explored in the past. I love to see places that may have been missed by some people on those areas.

| | | So just to make sure, we shouldn't specifically name places we've been to even in the message body? I know not to put it in the subject, but want to be sure I'm doing it right. As an example, "Made Up Imaginary Abandoned Hospital" should be "An Abandoned Hospital", right? Thanks and sorry for all the questions!

That is correct. Try and keep it vague for the most part. Some open and known locations may be different, but if it a secure spot, keep location details minimum. We don't want anyone and everyone to have full location and access at all times. The only exception is if it is a place in Sac; you must give me all details

| | | Feel free to namedrop a demolished location for obvious reasons. And there's probably one place in every state that's so wrecked everyone calls it by name no matter what, but you'll have to hang around for a while before you can figure which ones. Don't mention your exact access, although sometimes a funny story like 'I fell into the window' is highly justified and hilarious. You basically don't want to tell people how to get in themselves. Most of the time pretend you have magic powers that get you inside. NEVER use the UER uploader unless you want your shots to look terrible and get made fun of by elitists. But if you must, make sure "Create pop-up images" is disabled.

That has been changed and you have to actually enable it now. (Thanks, AV!)

| | | Okay, thanks so much for the tips and pointers guys! Lol Infiltr8. I haven't been here in Sac long so I'm still learning where everything's at and hoping to meet local explorers, but I've already found a few places by researching online and at libraries (yes, those archaic houses of books lol), plus being willing to travel a little bit.
