Places currently being demolished?
< on 9/17/2012 1:45 PM >
Posted on Forum: UER Forum

Just throwing this out there in case anyone could help. We are looking for some places that are currently being demolished (or absolutely going to be getting demolished within the next few months or so). I'd like to obtain some demolition footage for our documentary.

The bigger the place and the more beautiful architecture- the better.

You don't have to name drop here, just shoot me a PM.

Really any insider information about the demo would help. Such as what buildings are coming down, if there is a place close enough to the action to set up and film from a public road, the company involved with the demo, etc.

I know KPPC, NSH in CT, and MV in western PA... but still, any local/insider info would help.

Thanks in advance!

I think by now MV is either all gone or 90% gone.

I've heard my state's asylum is going through some bullshit. I'm not happy about it, I wasn't done there. They nailed the door shut on my goal building a month before I tried.

You have a good amount of time to make it to NSH.....the demolition is progressing rather slowly (I live about a quarter mile down the road), and some of the outlying buildings aren't even scheduled for demo yet / haven't been purchased yet.

These things have demo plans; maybe you can expect to see them around for a while, but I didn't take that chance and went the second I heard it. Protip: be a decent climber. PM for more info.

They're renovating it, allegedly. A friend of mine happened to be on site while they were working on it, and he spoke to some of the construction guys.

Try Dever in Taunton, MA. From what I've heard, the cafeteria is already gone, and I'm sure the rest won't be far behind.

Go to King's Park, dude. They've recently (this week) demoed some nice, aged buildings with lots of personality and it sucks butt. Tons of awsomeness wiped from the face of Long Island.

Not quite. Demo is stalled until the County and the owner of the land stop bickering. Last time I was there they started filling up a dumpster outside one of the buildings though, could be prep for asbestos remediation.

Overbrook demo so far has just been limited to the stuff across the street for the condos they are building. Other than that I'm not sure. I'm sure they want it all gone eventually for park land, etc.

My M1 Garand's Bayonet was made there. Sad.

If I'm not mistaken, I gave your friend coffee and drew him a map of the campus when he made a side-stop on the way up, lol.
