A few weeks back, the long awaited East Meets West Tour finally took place. Dallas and I made our way west to meet with fellow explorers doom vs. & rockandrollfreak, and a joyous time was had by all whilst cruising the open roads and exploring such sights as the Westinghouse boiler, Esther Lee's House and The Cat Lady House, just to name a few.
Yesterday at 6:00 am, as the sun peeked over the horizon, Dallas and I hit the road yet again for East Meets West 2. Entering Milton, I sent a text to rockandrollfreak stating that the race to doom's apartment building was on. Soon after, I got a text in return: "Guelph bitch." Just then I looked up at the Guelph sign. Pointing at the car ahead of us on the 401, Dallas joked "Wouldn't it be funny if that was him?" Hilariously enough, out of the thousands of cars on the highway that morning, it was him. We laughed hysterically, all three of us, and throughout the very long day of exploring, the laughs never stopped...

| | | | So this is part 1 of 3 for the day then I take it? Yeah, we chewed up the km's on this one for sure. The two new finds were sweet. On a sad note though, the itinerary included several other spots - two of which were demolished since my last visit, one that appears to be on the cusp of being fixed up and inhabited again at some point, and another which seems to now be at least semi used again, perhaps for storage.
I'll up my shots soon. Although most of them were second and third visits for me, I appreciated seeing you guys enjoy yourselves and I had to look for different things to shoot this time around.

Holy smokes... so much good stuff going on in this thread! Jerm, loved all the close-ups, especially in the God Rich house. I wonder about that one room though, whether wind just blew all the newspapers around or if someone had a puppy in there and had spread 'em all over the floor on purpose.
My first impression with the Stairway to Nowhere House is that I was there on Sunday! Even though I know you guys were nowhere near West Lincoln, I had to check the locale to make sure. It looks exactly like a house that I am about to post; the same insulbrick and the exact-same "falling apart" condition, same colour, same surrounding area. It is almost uncanny! If I get ambitious I might just put a couple of the shots side by side.
Although every shot of that famous stairway is amazing, Dooms "Nice Curves" has got to be the winner for me, even without the fabulous newel post in the pic. Great perspective on that one! Nice curves indeed.
The leg-trap was an awesome find!
Dallas!!! Seven HUNDRED?!? That would take me a month. Can't wait to see your trademark photo style.
PS - BTW R&RF, you were right! The first thing I thought of when I saw the pic of the four of you was WTF? Dave's head isn't that small ha ha ha.

Doom, 'Vegetative State' & 'Nice Curves' are spec-fucking-tacular photographs my friend. If you peeps don't know, this dude shoots these killer shots he brings to us with a lil' point and shoot. Mad props.
Dallas, you are certainly developing your own style, it is nice to watch you grow and try new things with your camera. Since that first day that I took you out it has been cool to watch you interact differently with the locations over time. You are much more inquisitive these days.
Thanks to rockandroll-"my girlfriend is making me meatloaf and apple pie"-freak for accommodating some of my wacky ideas for his series of multiples. I just added this one to the post...

The apple pie and meatloaf had added some weight back into my small head and skinny neck and my belly is still full!!
I was able to edit pics from three of the 76 locations we went to on Sunday, and will present the rest when I am able.
On this tour, as I reviewed my pics I had song names and song lyrics popping in and out of my thoughts, hence the strange titles of the images, but in the end they all make sense!

The first freestyle find of the day looked incredible from the outside, and our excitement built as we approached and made our entry.

One room upstairs, as Jerm had mentioned was blocked by falling wallpaper, as soon as he removed the wallpaper obstacle the entire upstairs filled with the stench of Raccoon feces....but this room yielded the best stuff...

Moving on and passing the remains of some now demolished locations, we approached the "Stairway to Nowhere" house...with a long-ass drive way and a good place to park we made our entry...
