Baby, baby, baby, oooh. by jerm IX, on Flickr ...As we ascended the basement stairs, Rockandrollfreak turned the corner into the living room ahead of me, and let out an "Aww yeah!" or an "Ohh yeah!" or a "Fuck yeah!" or something of that nature. This excited me. I turned the corner behind him and saw the piano, and knew instantly that we had discovered a gem. The single file line up the basement stairs broke apart and the four of us all separated to different sections of the house, with Rock and I quickly meeting back up in the kitchen. As we poked through the belongings on the kitchen table and shelves, we went back and forth, tit for tat on a "Wow, look at this!" - "Oh shit, check this out!" routine. We called each other over to see old watches and a livestock tattooing kit and a baby picture and issues of Good Housekeeping magazines from the 1950s addressed to a B. Donnelly, and so on and so forth...

| | | Yup, this one was a gem of a chance find. Rather than take the main rural highway to our next destination, I suggested we swing over one concession and freestyle and see what might be found. After finding a sub par retroshitted schoolhouse location, we found this lonely house. A one in ten rurex find by my standards. I will definitely return and share the site/sight with others who appreciate these vintage finds. 1. Pointless by Doom vs, on Flickr 2. Sky to Fall by Doom vs, on Flickr 3. | | | The "piano" is actually a pump organ. Basically an accordion in an ornate wood case, run off bellows that the player operates by tromping on 2 big pedals. They sound like hell when they work, which is a real shame considering the effort put into such intricate woodwork. About all anyone does with them now is rip the guts out and turn the cabinets into desks or sideboards. Loving these road trip shoots, all. Thanks for posting!

| | | Awesome house and amazing that there is so much to photograph in such a tight package. In Jerm's kitchen shots, that has to be the ugliest shop-vac anybody could buy. It is cool to see so many shots that are virtually identical in composition, even though they were taken by different photographers who were not even in the same room at the same time to see how it was taken by the others. Truly shows how like-minded we can be for great shots. And although everyone has their own version of it, R&RN's creepy bed shot was the highlight for me on this one. Or that horse ornament. Very cool!

It's amazing how worthless something so intricate is- my parents are antique dealers and have had a pristine condition one in their store since 1994. For $150. I found one in a really ruined abandoned house once, totally covered in mouse nests and poop with "RODENT PROOF" on little ornate brass plates on the pedals. Sure enough, the damn thing worked.
