Bear Mountain/Ellenville Resort

Ill get my shots up later, but theres a resort out here in ellenville, ny that I happened across in a toen called ellenville? I think thats how its spelled. Theres an active resort nearby & the property is slated for demo & new purpose $$$. I cant explore too much today but I'm hoping to get back out here before it gets torn down.

A few friendly groundskeeper (thanks guys c&r) told me some of the history +/- 100 years old, massive complex, one caretaker that does NOT live there and it has been used for police training (state esu & narc) but hasnt been active for a while.

It really looks like a walk in the park with a lot to check out. 2 private houses, a resort tower, numerous buildings, a lake, ice skating rink & a waterfall.

Before we head back to Brooklyn, I hope I can some more shots of this place & its grounds. I will return!

New here I see, so you probably haven't seen the threads about this place. Ellenville is the name of the town. View from the roof of the tower is overrated. Explorers are overwhelmingly busted by the caretakers; it's no walk in the park. Like 2 other people on this site have pulled it off cleanly. Everyone will get their chance when the casino plans fall through, though.

Colours, LINKS, images, etc are not allowed, text and LINKS only. Emphasis mine.

I'm aware Ellenville is the name of the town & I've been warned about using accurate names in my postings so that's why I titled it as such. From what I heard, there was no security systems in place. I hd spoken with a few of the guys that work at the active resort next door. It sounded as though they had been over there once or twice themselves. After taking the tourist trail up to the waterfall, I had crossed the stream to another trail which took me along the property line & if not for 1/2 dozen golfers staring at me, I would have made it further than the Tubing Ticket Booth. I was informed about the caretaker, but they made him sound like a pushover, I guess they were wrong.

As I put in my first post, I would get up some of my shots. I couldnt modify my original since it was over 24 hours, so I made another entry

Oh, on another note, since I am new & still a basic member, I cannot view the whole DB and see whats been covered & what hasnt, so try and cut me some slack. Try referring me to where the other posts are & I'll add my shots there if I can. & Since everyone uses pseudonyms, how can I search for a site if I don't know the pseudonym they used? I kind of doubt theres a pseudonym database because that would defeat the purpose of using them

That's kind of the point, not naming locations encourages independent research and discourages armchair exploration. I thought my reply was pretty merciful, to be honest I didn't even expect you post exteriors. Kind of surprised the cult's security guard let you in, though.

I was speaking in general about the comments, you were merciful. Only reason I didnt post interiors is because my wife was waiting on me in the next resort. The only signs of activity on the grounds were dirtbike tracks & some tracks from a truck but they were older.

There was no signs of security, either humanoid cult members or electronic devils. Sorry, had to be sarcastic there lol

Wow, you think those replies were bad? I was surprised nobody bugged out on you. Trust me it could have gone so much worse.

On another note, you generally want to make a new thread when you post your own shots (which you did, good job) rather than posting them in somebody else's thread. But trying to be discreet with the location by posting the town instead of the resorts name doesn't do much. Especially when you post exteriors.

The replies weren't bad persay, but I am a rook trying to get used to a new layout. The other UE sites I have been on were a little different & were mainly staff contributed or came right out with the name & pretty much said f&$^ it. Im trying to assimilate, trust me im trying. I didnt just come here for exterior shots. I want to hit new places, meet a few like minded individuals & have fun.

Not to mention that it's totally doable if you're not a raging wimp like 99% of the armchair explorers on this site are willing to mock the guy for getting exterior shots. Meanwhile nearly everyone that's tried has been busted and excluded from the property save for precisely two people here. If you've hit this property, step forward and cast a stone if you will. Otherwise shut the fuck up and go pay for tours of Eastern State so you can try to recoup the cost of your T3i's. Or go masturbate to Steve Duncan videos.

I'm telling you from personal experience, There are motion sensors all over the first floor. At least 6 placed in strategic locations. You cannot avoid them. I had to hide in a closet for hours while cops searched the building.
Don't say I didn't warn you.

Which building? I counted at least 4 from where I was & I had only scratched the surface. I was looking from one side of the property.

When I return I'll try to get more intel on it as far as active security & try to scope it out some more. It was broad daylight & there were quite a few people around, most were from the active resort going to or coming from the waterfall. I didnt want to draw attention to myself since it was an unfamiliar area to me. There were recent sights & sounds of dirtbikes on the property so they probably dont have an exterior security system especially with the deer our there. There were 2 hotels near by that were also abandoned so theyre on my list for next time as well. I hope I can at least get closer next time & check for sensors without setting them off

Correct me if im wrong but theres more than just the one resort in that area, right? A few others have been named, maybe not in the same town but within a reasonable distance, there was a whole belt up there & a petting zoo (not sure on that location) but there is a lot to see up there. & theres no harm in checking in to see if anything has been updated or done away with. I sure as hell dont want to get arrested, but playing it smart has kept me out of trouble for the most part. I see what others have commented here & do take the advice into consideration.

I dont barge into areas unknown, I scout & observe before I even think about going through a door or window & I never make my own entrance.

Plus, I would never travel that far for one site without knowing beforehand if its accessible or not, gas isnt free after all
