When signing up for the site, there really needs to be a requirement that forces you to read a document stating that new people can't ask for anything upon making an account, sort of like a terms of agreement, only something short and sweet that people will actually read. (I know that there are already FAQ's and stuff like that, but half the people on the site either seem to not find or care about these.) It would definitely save people some time that they have spent replying to posts like this.

I've been exploring for a long time but new here, heard bad things about the attitudes here and thought I'd join and try to help people out. And one of the best ways to do that is to answer people's requests for locations and exploring buddies with something besides snobbery and snark. If they're anywhere near me (500 miles or so), I'll even offer to go out there a couple of weekends from now and explore with them, if that's appealing to them.

Is that you, Bill Finan?

The Durango '95 purred away a real horrowshow - a nice, warm vibraty feeling all through your guttiwuts. And soon it was trees and dark, my brothers, with real country dark.

The more open-minded you are about locations, the more you'll find. Also, if high fences/security are problematic, you'll be missing out on about 95% of the stuff here.

Neither my wife or i are stealthy so security can be a concern depending on the location(this is ny after all, home to police violence) & fences are an unavoidable obstacle in this field, but they always prove problematic if you have to make a quick exit, nothing like getting hung/torn up on a 10ft chain link or barbed wire fence. Not my cup of tea. Before I go leaping over fences, I always check for an easy in/easy out, my balls hurt less that way

In that case I recommend the brazen 'enter-the-hotel-and-try-for-the-roof' approach (tends to work well with a female). If you DO get into complications, say you have trouble restraining your insatiably curious wife and you have no idea what's gotten into her.

Sexist, but believable.

Just run in guns blazing, balls out & blame the wife? That could work if only she'd go in half the buildings that I do. Im usually the one hopping through a window or under a fence. This is why I prefer out of the way places where you can take your time & move easy instead of having to keep an eye out for cops & parks dept. I think we'll be going back to "whore hospital". Its a different vibe out there, a lot more relaxed than around here

If you're not already prepared to do the research and find your own industrial and military abandonments, then you probably also won't be prepared to get into them. Start small.

Urban exploring is about research and discovery, then scouting, then infiltrating. Then after that comes photography and posting pictures on UER. If you can't handle the first couple of steps, nobody's doing you any favours by making the latter steps easier for you.

There are countless more reasons why we're not open to sharing locations with just anyone, many of which have already been shared. You're probably free to look up a location on your own, then find someone on UER who's been, and ask them if it's still worth going and if there are any precautions to take. Any more information like that, especially points of entry, takes out all the fun.

I initially started the thread just looking for ideas on where to go that particular day, I wasn't looking for p.o.e details to any specific location. Ive done some scouting, some productive, some sucked balls & research, yeah I've been doing some of that too. A lot of industrial & military sites around here have beefed up security, gone commercial or have been torn down or repurposed.

I head out when I can & do hands on recon but some sites require a different approach then my usual drive up & investigate. I try not to look for hand outs since I prefer to get my hands dirty but sometimes I just need a push in the right direction to get my going.

There are plenty more places I want to hit, but theyre the places where parking my car out front draws may too much attention & I dont have a bike at the moment. Plus my wife can be a lazy ass & not want to hoof it.

This Saturday, I'll be upstate so hopefully I can get a room at one of the resorts & not get grossed out. There a few potential rooms to rent up there & hopefully I can see more than one before coming back

Forgot to mention, I check sites through bing, uer, forgottenny & a few other sites, always trying to get the most intel I can before I gear up. Once on the ground, I continue recon until I find a p.o.e, I dont like making my own unless its in the boonies & no one will hear me bust down a door with a well placed mule kick.

Before my feet ever hit the ground I check my options and try to get permission for some sites, only a handful that requireva damn boat or uber ninja skills, neither of which I have.

I haven't been here long, but I love the site, the people (most of you's anyways) & the hobby. I like the danger but sometimes my gut just says dont do it dumbass, cuffs dont feel good (too tight)

That is the plan & I hope to God it doesn't fall through. I know they've been done numerous times on numerous sites, but they're still new to me

I still haven't hit this bar in my neighborhood but its not in danger of demo & I keep forgetting about it. Im also pretty sure that no one has been there so hopefully it helps when I reapply for full member
