What should I get? I have a Mini Mag-Lite already but it's a bulb not LED so it's not very bright.

Go for a Lenser P7.2 for light, it's a good solid torch and batteries last for ages.

I'm not sure why you need the knife

I agree with paulpowers. LED Lenser is a solid product. I have the M7R (rechargeable) and it is a great light. They also have a great warranty which I recently had to take advantage of.

That's above my price range. I'm looking at the 4imprint site now I'll see if I can't find a nice flashlight. Thinking about it now, you guys are right. A good flashlight would be better. Cheap tho, cause I have a tendency to lose them

Well if you are just looking for a cheap light that's bright and you aren't paying much for then here you go

http://www.uer.ca/...=110894&currpage=1

I bought three of them and JUST replaced one of the batteries because it died. I abuse the shit out of basically everything I own and mine have scuffs and scraped and pieces missing from them and they still work amazing. Hell, I even fell in raw sewage a few times with mine and it still works like a champ, even after there was clearly water inside of it.

No, these aren't "quality" but if you want your money to go further (because it's looking like you're mostly worried about that) then I'd get a couple of these and call it a day.

On the note of the LED Lensers...mine gets hot as shit. Like straight up fucking burns my hands if I have it on for too long, is that just because mine is an older model or that a common thing? It's a fantastic light, though.

Worked great for me last time. And they can't really track me as a previous customer as I used a new email, address, phone and business.

7 days. That's all it took. I got 1 of the flashlights today. And it's really nice. Really bright for what it is. And it's really solid. I could probably drop it 10 stories and it wouldn't break.

Through the years of my life I have spent a lot of money on cheap stuff only to have to replace it repeatedly, and finally purchasing the quality one that I didn't want to spend the money on originally. I have come to the conclusion that the least expensive is not always the best purchase.

Having a cheap tool (light, knife, etc) fail right when you need it most can ruin a trip or potentially put you in danger. Think about a light failing when you are up a couple of flights of stairs in a dark building.

Here's a good place to do some research: http://budgetlightforum.com/ These folks are pretty good at finding quality lights at a bargain price. Lots of different options, but a lot of good lights.

Same thing with a knife. Skip the gimmicky knifes and purchase a reasonably sturdy pocket knife. If you need a carabiner, then buy a carabiner. Mixing the two together means you get something that doesn't work well for either task.

Just my thoughts.

Haha I agree that spending the money works out in the long run.. I carry a very small streamlight daily. I carry multiples when exploring. Cost me some coin but they are waterproof and I've literally driven over them, plus they have lasted me years.

As for pocket knives.. I wont even go in to how much I've spent on some of mine.

I usually carry a couple of these little guys and use them as my "primary" lights.

This is my "back up" light.

And I carry one more of the Harbor Freight cheapies as my "emergency" light. I need it double bagged in ziplock freezer bags.

Feel free to purchase and carry more expensive lights, but it is more important that you have redundancy and that your batteries are both fresh and tested.

I've been considering converting some of these into different LED colors for light painting use.

Good light. Too bright for infiltrations though, and I find the power switch difficult to locate.

I recently just bought the FordEx Cree light off of amazon about two weeks ago, BUT, it still hasn't arrived yet. So I have nothing to say about it.yet.
