1.

A larger photo of the building in question.

We've scoped the place out twice. The first time we actually went inside and checked out the basement and part of the ground floor. The basement is filled with winding brick tunnels, long rusted pipes, collapsed ceilings, and hundreds of used and discarded gas masks and filters. The ground floor is lit, but there are no workers or guards, no cameras, graffiti everywhere, plants sprouting from the decaying building, and no signs that anyone has been moving around or working on anything recently. Interestingly, the ground floor also has big rigs, RVs, boats, dumpsters, tool benches, and palettes full of brand new children's gas masks just sitting around. We had been tinkering around with the tools and gas masks for quite some time when I noticed a sizable pit-bull mix run by; I sometimes imagine how the dog could have easily caught us off guard. Also strange, it did not growl or pay us any attention, it just trotted past off to another section of the building. Because of this we assumed it was just a stray, however when we made another visit to the building we were greeted with the barking and howls of multiple dogs within the structure. Needless to say we didn't venture any further, but our curiosity is peaked.

Does anyone know what the place is? Has anyone been here before?

Nice to know the x-small gasmasks are still there!
This was built for Freihofer's Bakery before the World Wars and they sold it in 1958. It ended it's life as a textiles mill and the sewing tables are still there. The Hollywood movie "Law Abiding Citizen" (Gerard Butler/Jamie Foxx) was shot in Philadelphia in 2008 and the scenes of the psychopath in the old factory were shot here. There are still movie props scattered about and some iconic items from the scene were rescued by a buddy of mine. I still have a couple of those gasmasks floating around in the trunk of my Merc.
The dogs belong to the factory out back so don't worry about the dog barking. I swear, if you bust-ass on the second floor near the back bay door, they start barking. You can often hear the owner of the dogs yelling at them to "shut up".
I've never seen dogs inside the building or on the property itself since the front gate is usually wide open and the driveway is shared by another active industrial property. I agree, it must've been a stray. In the open courtyard where the boat and jet-ski reside, there used to be some giant wooden buildings and structures but they have recently been demolished. Every door and garage door were open for years until the minor interior demo was completed, then they locked that shit down good. I haven't been there in a few months but I assumed because of the recent attempts to secure the property, it was being refurbished.
The place is a confounding maze but it's still pretty damn cool. Nice job with the photos on the Photography board.

Wow, quick and informative response. This makes me wanna go back out that way since the dogs aren't actually a threat. Isn't that the coolest thing when you can watch a movie and tell everyone you've been there? I did dome research on my own too; the place is up for sale, but they've hardly done any significant measures of locking the place down. Both times we've gone we just walked right in just like you said.
