The Millbrook Question.....Please respond.

Does anyone know if the main attraction there is still standing (Not gonna drop the name)? I've heard there have been plans for demolition for quite some time now. just wondering if anyone's been there recently to see if its worth going. really don't wanna drive 3 hours or so to find a filled in foundation.
Thanks guys,
Apple

LOL. At this point just say Bennett School. Any quick search with the words Millbrook and Abandoned will yield the first 50 results anyway. And yes I believe it's still standing although I wouldn't sneeze or breath wrong, could come right down.

Yup, still there but like C-Note said, don't breathe the wrong way or you'll knock it down yourself.

The town has been in a battle now saying it was coming down for a few years now at least but nothing has come of it yet.

However, I'm only 99% certain it's still there, but I haven't been there myself for a few years now so unless it got demolished in the last month or so, it's still there.

Police regularly keep an eye on it as to the neighbors, but the major security feature is the building itself trying to kill you.

A lot of it is really more stable than people say. Its really just the front section that you don't want to sneeze in.

I know a lot of the northeast got snow recently. Not sure how much they got in Millbrook, but with eagle-eye neighbors like this place has, you may want to take that into consideration.

I lived a mile or two away from this place when I was younger, it's probably a reason for my love for this crap, but let me tell you, even back in the late 70s this place was a dump that looked like the haunted house in the opening of Scooby Doo. I haven't been by it in about ten years, it hasn't got better since, and I can't imagine there's much left standing that would actually be safe to stand on.

People have gone there very recently and it's still doable. Like the others said, be careful.

HH is falling apart and there is a necessity to exercise a little extra caution.

This time of year, I'd avoid the place if there's snow on the roof. HH has a slate roof which is not exactly lightweight and is falling in on itself without help from the weight of snow.

Some of it came down without snow.

Thanks for all the replies and advice, definately didnt put into consideration how snow load effects a building (especially if its already unstable). I might just wait till spring for this one.....we'll see....

Actually, what I meant about snow was that footprints show up pretty inconveniently in it. You have neighbors that love to watch a place and suddenly there's a trail that leads right to you...

^^^^ The worst. I've had to cancel a few missions due to snow, and in most of the cases it wasn't snowing the day of the explore but a day or two before. It's not something everyone thinks about right away, but you're essentially just leaving anyone keeping an eye on the properties you explore a giant breadcrumb trail right to your entry point.

And that itself is bad two-fold. For one, you may leave that way, and if security's bored enough...they'll be waiting for you when you exit. The other side of it is, now that they followed your path to the entrance in, they know what they have to seal up to prevent future trespassing

Snow's a bitch
