exploring the factory where tent city was.

In 1990, I came across a giant factory where tent city stands today. I simply moved a board and I was in.

It was amazing. Huge massive black turbines and monterous windows let the filtered grey light in. I didn't have a flashlight so we couldn't go too far.

I new the place was in the process of being demolished so we ventured forward. We found hundreds of keys and gallons of paint. I was a teenager then and I new the place would be demolished so we let our rebel side take over. We unloaded all the paint everywhere in this room. We walked on desks splashing, red, yellow and greens on walls, lockers, managers rooms and machines. Now that I think of it, we did it for all the workers who worked in the factory and hated their job.

As we left to explore another building, a securiry guard spotted us and questioned us. I had a camera around my neck so we just told him we were shooting a video for school . He looked just as scared as us and he even let us spend some time to look around.

The video was on Super 8 film and we used the footage for a music video. 90% of the footage was too dark so all we really have is our memories of that massive factory that continues to contaminate the property and make people ill.

Sounds like you had fun, however hopefully you no longer vandalize. I have smashed windows and painted on walls before, when I was much younger, so I don't judge. Just don't do it again, or you'll have to go to your room

I take it that would be the R.L. Herne Generating Station.

In fact, it's NOT being demolished, it's being cleaned up, and eventually converted into a movie studio.

But it's absolutely AWESOME to go inside this place late at night and explore...

NO, NO, It's not the generating station. This was on the exact spot where tent city stood.

As for the vandalizing, that was just plain stupid. 18 and full of energy.

I didn't know you could get into the generating station. It was guarded that last time I saw it. The place looks huge.

Yes, it's guarded 24 hours, and while not in use for generating, has been sold to a movie company or something.
