You sound like you're doing something a little more illegal than UEing. Nobody around here has ever been "tracked down" or hauled into court for a little harmless exploration. I mean if you're looting and tagging then you're far beyond the respectful points of UEing.

1. There is a finite number of shoe manufacturers.
2. There is an even more finite number of useable tread configurations.
Therefor whatever tread is on your shoe, thousands of people likely have the same pattern. For someone to match your shoe to a footprint, you would already have to be a suspect. If you do not own a pair shoe that matches, this does not prove that you did not wear them at the time (Unless they are unreasonably smaller than your foot), but even if you do own matching shoes, this still does not prove that you made the footprint. This is called circumstantial evidence, and will get thrown out of court with an objection by any lawyer with an IQ over 3. Even if you are using a rock for a lawyer, the judge will usually throw it out. Because of this, and several other reasons, police almost never bother with foot prints for evidence. Sometimes they will be used to guess weight, approximate height, and guess gender, but the cops know these are all guesses, and only use them to narrow down a possible list of suspects.

My advice:
1. Invest in gloves, your fingerprints are a much bigger problem.
2. If you are worried about forensics experts going over your foot prints you are probably doing something very wrong. People just don't care that much about trespassing, cops included.

2 + 2 = 5 for extremely large values of 2

dude, no forensics team is going to study you and no swat team is coming through your door. This is fantasy, not reality. If you're in a location that is so top secret that they'd actually do that then i'm guessing that most people here will get caught before going in. No one cares that you explore, no one. The only reason cops or security patrols is to stop vandals, squatters and drug users. I've recently been busted videotaping the nuwaubian nation of moors compound that is patrolled usually by US Marshalls. The cops were HELLA pissed but when they realized that we were stupid white kids making a video and disturbing NOTHING they let us go. That was FEDERAL LAND and they still let us go. Let me repeat NO ONE CARES that you want to explore. I've never been arrested and probably never will because of that fact.

I hate all of you
