| | | Courtice doll house < on 5/20/2005 2:46 AM >
| | | I've been driving by this place for a long time. It's a landmark commuters on the 401 in the Clarington area will know. Just east and south of the 401 freeway and Courtice Road interchange is what I've dubbed the Courtice doll house. Finally, a few months back, I decided to check it out. I went back a few more times since then and here, now, are the visual results: http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=23008 Another place I've driven by hundreds of times but never really noticed is this classy house, located at the southwest corner of Holt Road and Durham Highway 2, in between Courtice and Bowmanville (I think they call this village Maple Grove). Not sure if it's technically abandoned but I doubt if anyone calls it home these days:

| | | Indeed it is called Maple Grove, I live there (when I'm not at school or working, that is). I've seen that place many times, and I've always wondered about it.

| | | what is that pile of dirt on one side? Are they doing some sort of constructing or removal or something? Wall siding doesn't just fall off like that by itself, does it? (And it's crazy how you know someone who used to live there, lostland. Isn't it weird seeing the house all decrepit and abandoned?)

It's like they're doing a really show and painful demo. And the wall siding of the Doll house "fell off" mysteriously between March and July as well. Seems very odd indeed!

| | | People strip aluminum siding off abandoned places for money...it brings in like 10-15 bucks a pound I think for scrap.
