I also have afternoons off after 7:00, but I was hoping to go during the day. I was trying to figure out some kind way to get into the location in curtice, if that guy can get ahold of the mantinance guy then maybe we can check that out. But there are a few other locals around bowmanville, 1.Storm Drains (kinda umplesent unless your a midget the pipe is about 4'6") 2.Stone Quary, on lakeshore 3.Seach the south side along the lakeshore eastbound, I remember a few out east of bowmanville 4.The Castle Hotel, Under Renovation. 5.The Old Powerplant, (guarded -mild security) 6.The Goodyear plant 7.Take a tour of the old Reform school, now currently the Manderan School where the pricipal got kidnapped. (been wanted to check that place out for a while, I could possibly get a guided tour) CAMP X!!! 8.Check out the old Forge/casting place. 9.The Propane explosion Site 10.Go wander through whats left of Whitby Phyq. 11.ECT. ECT. ECT...... I am a long time UE'R and I know many locations in bowmanville. Much more then whats on this site. There is plenty to do, we just need to find a date that fits all of our time scheduals. anyways before we plan anything I just want to get a figure as to how many will be comming? It just recently changed hands and is now a Muslim "University" where Muslim school children can come and earn Canadian high school credits. I sincerely wish you luck with the guided tour, perhaps the new owners will be more willing than the last one, Gary Ku. I have tried to get tours of that place numerous times over the last 3 or 4 years. I finally explored it somewhat with my friend Abstract back in March of 2004. I would link to the UE DB entry, but you don't have access to it yet anyways. And, just for a point of clarification, the camp in Bowmanville was Camp 30. Camp X was destroyed a long time ago, save for one of the buildings which was moved and now serves at the Camp X Museum. I've done a ton of research on this topic, so feel free to give me a shout if you want to know anything else. I am trying to plan something for oct 1. I would be doing this under the guise of a reseach project and such. "a study of the cycles of Human habitats in relation to time and history" with the thesis of (ecological/perceived environmental social issues (War) dictates the constuction and preservation of buildings based upon social attachment to creation.) I would like to bring in a group to take Photographs, and maybe do a short documentuery. So I was hopeing to book a full day or two. Whatever they decide, I can push the idea it would look like a good Publics relations reason to co-operate. Although those are great means to explore a building.
