Hey everyone, i was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a pair of good hiking or tactical/combat boots that are relatively cheap (under $100) but offer good protection, grip, comfort etc.

Thanks for any help

Magnum Stealth. I got mine at Shoe Carnival, half off, $40. Very comfortable, light and tough. The only drawbacks I've found is the lack of a steel toe and no quick lace.

I got mine from Brigade Quartermaster, They are Bates Ultra-Lites side zip, I'd recommend those.. they run between 70ish to 80ish
they have a fiberglass shank and you can get it with a carbon fiber toe, it's completely non metal...

You can get a pair of old jungle boots for like $30 online, they have drains on them so if you go in chest deep water they drain quickly, they have spike protect (steel shank) so you wont impale yourself on say a nail. They have excellent traction, ankle support, and they look hardcore.

I recommend jungles if your explorations involve trecking through heavily wooded areas, and the spike protect is a necessity.

I wear steel toe and shanked running shoe style safety boots. They are black, light, more comfortable than a boot and have the advantage of a steel toe for protection and kicking if need be

If you don't want to pay the bucks for magnums, check these out; the Sears Brand Die Hard Duty 8inch side zip Magnum knock offs. Excellent quality , 60 bucks, I got mine on sale for 45.
The side zip version of the Magnum is substantially more, and these are a high quality item. I'm pleased. On the plus side, they take a polish nicely, so I wear them to work even. A little Kiwi and some elbow grease and they shine like mirrors.
The only thing I would recommend is treating them with some leather lotion a couple of times. I've had Magnums that I didn't doo this too and they started cracking prematurely.
