I was wondering if anyone knew what the building on the south west corner was before. I went by there today and I noticed one building is still up... the rest have been torn down and townhouses built. They have had billboards up for a while, but it looks like they are working on the first phase now.
The neighbourhood legend was that it was a PCP storage dump, and if it was, it sure does not look like they did a through clean up, apart from demolishing the building and putting up hideous townhomes!

Over the past year they've been clearing out soil over by where the townhouses got built and I'm fairly sure there's still more land on that block that's in need of some environmental remediation-- especially the stuff in and around the resin plant which I think is still standing. Such a nice place to raise a family..
What building is that in the second picture?

I guess its totally empty now... I am going to check out the other building closer to the bridge which has large windows. I hope that is not the super toxic one, right by the rail bridge.

Nice! The interesting thing for me is how Toronto has no by-law, nor Ontario have a law which requires a disclosure of what the land was used for by previous tenants. Its somewhat disturbing. Whenever I move somewhere I will be digging in teh archive.
That whole area really sucks. I mean they got high tension wires everywhere and even what looks like a substation behing the new townhomes. Are people totally retarded? Must be...

No thats down the street. There is a new loft/BS development there. They are mockingly referred to as the the toilet lofts. They are further down, south of dupont. One building as a dollerama store!

Some, or all (I'm not sure), of the buildings are being "preserved" by being turned into lofts and condos (like, say, the warehouse at the corner of Lans and Dav).

With minimum effort, with construction workers on site, sales office open and staffed, security guard on site, etc. we still made it into 2 buildings plus scouted others. Act like you know what you are doing and it is amazing where you can go. Don't be afraid of people, talk to them, you never know what they will allow ;)
That being said, another trip is required, there are many places left to explore in that complex. And southwest of there, more interesting areas. Just watch the people, good eyes will usually tell you where to go...

I am assuming you mean that hideous apartment building....isn't it filled with squatters? They should just demo that place..its really ugly (next to coffee time).

I might be naive but what else is in there? I thought all the prostitutes's and other scum bags were 'reloacted/kicked out a while ago.
Is that building legitamitely abandoned since its filled with squatters? I assume that it doesnt have management.
Just looking at that place, as I pass by on the bus is enough.

I have a studio in the complex on the North West corner, and I've gone in to that donut store on occasion, at night it's a meeting place for crack dealers and prostitutes.
That corner is really a weird mix, artist studios on the North West, fake low rent "lofts" on the South West, nasty highrise with dubious donut store on the North East and a yuppie "loft style" brand new condo on the South East...weird...
