| | | why go through the hassle of shipping? Make your own. Here's a link with instructions how to do it. http://www.gregmiller.net/locks/makelockpicks.html Only change I'd make to the guy's description is to use street sweeper bristles which can be found after the street sweeper goes by your street, or look up the location of a street sweeper company and ummm.... find some. This steel is spring steel, and remains flexable, its the right thickness and width for most picks. Some companies dont ship across the boarder, Southord used to but due to the hefty shipping and customs duties the price isnt worth paying for it even though the quality is excellent. Why not get them sent to someone in the states and then they resend it to you as "used tools" on the postal declaration. Dont use lock picks on any lock you dont own, nor carry them with you at any time as your ass will be grass if you get caught. edit bad speeling and bad link [last edit 10/31/2005 7:52 PM by Mutt - edited 2 times]

| | | Thanks for the useful reply, I'm only going to use the picks on locks that I have. It is going to be, just like UE , a hobby and not used to break the law.

| | | I would assume in the same way that people shoot guns as a hobby but don't kill people. Although I don't know for sure, as I don't do either.

| | | Are they aspiring Houdini's or professional locksmiths getting together to see who can pick a lock faster? Rodeo came about as cowboys got together on their days off to test their rustlin' and ropin' skills against one another.

| | | ...but how do you explain this? http://www.punkinchunkin.com/main.htm edit to add: I can see how in certain rare situations, lock picking as a last resort could be a useful skill to have, if one had somehow accidentally locked themselves into a room in an abandoned building, for example. But lock pickin' rodeos? Probably not the same rubberneckcarwreck factor as, say, bull riding. [last edit 11/2/2005 9:50 PM by mortimer - edited 1 times]

| | | Lockpicking is just as much of a personal challenge as many games and other things - like rubix cubes, DDR, chess etc...it's amazing how good it feels to pick a so-called "high-security" and have it open in your hands. There are actually groups, called locksports teams that get together weekly or monthly and pick locks. I'm considering starting one on campus at the U of M but I'm lazy and it probably won't happen for a while. If you get into it, and have some success, it will become addicting. Happy pickings! ~Grit.

| | | THanks for all of the great information. As far as Mortimer's comments on guns , well I shoot as well. I shoot long distance percsion. Lockpicking would kinda be on the same line. A personal challenge.
