Hi

I live in Welland, so I have been throughout the Seaway Mall and their "off limits" areas (I work at that mall, and had a friend in security show me around). Also, I've been to off-limits areas within the Pen Centre in St. Catharines (again great toi have friends who work security!). In both these cases, there is nothing really interesting to see; Seaway Mall off-limits areas are simply hallways that lead to the back of stores and utilities, and the Pen Centre is pretty much the same, other than its hallways run under the main floor and only lead to utilities, or at least from what I have seen. Anyone know any different about the malls in the Niagara Region, let me know!

Nipper

I just use those back hallways at Seaway Mall to get in and out of the mall and don't have to fight crowds. The one that runs behind Radioshack and comes out by the Shoppers Drug Mart parking lot is the one I use the most.

An mall that is at least closed and possibly abandoned sits at the southeast corner of Weston and Finch (or near the intersection). The windows and doors are boarded, the place is certainly vacant.

I know this one. I've always wanted to check it out, but because of the neighbourhood I'm to afraid of gangs, squatters, and junkies to even get close enough.

Wait, I was at one closer to Sheppard and Weston - I'm pretty sure it was Sheppard. Are there two then? I have pics, will find and post if possible.

When I was a teen we did a ton of exploring in the back halls and sub basement of Scarborough Town Center (OK.... back then it wasn't "exploring".... more like "looking for a place to drink where we wouldn't get caught").
I can still remember the smell of cement and the graffiti!
A few years later, I worked as an Investigator at Eaton's in STC, and chased quite a few shoplifters into those back areas!!
We also went looking around Shoppers World on the Danforth. It was interesting because part of it used to be a bowling alley. The lanes were gone, but some of the pin reseting equipment was still there.

Dun.

Maybe you should read the whole thread rather than asking somebody to spoon feed it to you.

Good call
Not a place to be snooping/wandering around dressed in dark clothing late at night! You're likely to get rolled for your Rollie and find your car on cinder blocks

It's in what I think is now a Zellers. The equipment is (was) in a store room at the south end of the store.

Weird. In Barrie, our Zellers became a bowling alley, and down there your bowling alley became a Zellers.

Shopping mall exploration is a good way for those new to UE type things to get their feet wet. Its easy and relatively safe.

My suggestion for those that want to look around the back halls of a mall is to go during mid morning hours during the week. This is the time frame that people are usually in these halls making deliveries to the stores. Bring along a hand cart/two wheeler/hand truck what ever you want to call it and just wander around looking like you have places to go and people to see.

Act, and dress, like you belong where you are and are doing what you should be doing and no-one will pay attention to you. Dress like an idiot that just fell out of a military surplus store or even worse a ninga and you will stick out like a green horn. Dont have cameras visible either, you will be singled out as a problem by others.

Square One mall in Mrs Saga has a nice tunnel system with underground truck tunnels for deliveries if you happen to be in that area.

Square One has one of the most complicated "behind store" systems I have ever experienced! When I worked in the mall, it took a while to figure out the layout of the actual stores in the place... and this was before the new additions with the Gap et. al. were built!

We used to spend a lot of time searching for shoplifters in those back corridors and it was a lesson in frustration.

The Cambridge Center in Cambridge Ontario is pretty easy to wander around because theres usually a couple doors open because theres a movie theater in the mall.

And also keep your eyes open around the area of the ice rink inside the mall for passage ways and doors
