| | | Yeah Grit, I did. The doors are doubles, with a steel center post between them. Each door lock assembly is thus flush with the steel post on the front and side. My car Slim Jim wouldn't fit behind the door, and I couldn't even get a piece of steel safety wire down through to pull back against the locks. I'm going back tonight to take another long look at the roof, even though its around 70 feet to the shop floor. If I can get in without breaking anything, I'll do it. Pravus, the slot isn't a bad idea! I have no access to power, but I'll bet I could do the same thing with a triangular diamond file. Hmmmmm..........I'll let you know tomorrow how it worked! I don't know how much money you want to invest in this project, but you could buy a battery powered dremel tool. I have one made by black and decker, with those little cylindrical batteries. It only cost me $30 a couple of years ago. A small hack saw may be better than a file - finner slot? ~Grit.

Oooo ... good idea - you could impression a key for the locks . All you need is some schlage blanks of the appropriate section, a pipen file and some vice grips!

No, the guy in my av isn't actually me. |

You should be able to make a bump key. There's a thread about bumping, with a link to a video how-to, and it's worth a try if you don't want to learn hand-picking for this project. ~Grit.

you could get a battery powered one.. but it's gunna be a lil loud and make hella sparks (if you do this at night you'll become a small beacon).. the file is better idea if it's anywhere near houses or anything that has high traffic.. Also I would give the vise-grips a shot first, since it'll be quicker then a file and quieter then a dremmel [last edit 11/12/2005 11:58 AM by Pravus - edited 1 times]

| | | Posted by Ishi Commonly securing janitorial rooms, elevator/escalator rooms, offices, and pretty much any room on the platform except for the rooms described below with Schlage. Schlage locks are used on some of the little rooms on the Bloor-Danforth line, i.e. some of the double gray doors recessed into the walls at certain stations like Pape, Sherbourne, Broadview, just to name a few. I believe that they house some piping inside those cabinets. They are the same size as the red cabinets you see on the platforms (Those house emergency equipment for firefighting).
|
Nope, they're Medeco as well. Most of the cores in the padlocks are Medeco, to boot. The TTC does not skimp on the type of lock they use... if you can find any lock while on the system, it's pretty much guarenteed to be a Medeco unless it's one of the PAX (skeleton looking), square, or ACE keys.

No, those are the silver, squarish ones (I don't know their actual name). The PAX keys are the longer, bronze ones.

| | | Only that all TTC employees have a PAX key, and as such there generally isn't anything interesting behind those doors (lunchrooms and operator washrooms are the normal finds). I have no information about the square(cross) keys for the subway cabs, but I think they're for cab access only. As for the Medeco's... there are so many variants in use it isn't funny. And there is no such thing as a master Medeco key for the system, regardless of what people might say. Only master keys for the Medeco subsets in use. To get into Bay Lower and Queen Lower you'd need a B master, fyi.

| | | Thanks for the info Archer. I've heard that these PAX keys are a universal transit operators thing. For instance YRT employees issued PAX keys can use them in the TTCs facilities. Also why issue these keys versus issuing a normal key to access these operators facilities?

It looks like the screwdriver for tamper-proof screws with 2 cylindrical depressions on the face. It doesn't come with instructions.
