| | New ? Clarington Location < on 12/7/2005 2:19 AM >
| | | Found an interesting location in Clarington. Not really sure what it is and since I did not have my geiger counter handy I decided not to proceed (just in case). No security or people around just the fence. The major buildings were hidden by the trees and some kind of underground concrete structure. I have attached some pics for your viewing pleasure:
Anyone have any info on this location ?

| | | It was not that far over. Did not look like a mine. No activity. Could be a storage facility of some kind. You would think if there was any kind of radioactive stuff they would have some security.

| | | It was far away from the plant. It was in a residential area. On both sides (500ft give or take) were houses.

As do I, but I've never seen that before. Hmm..I'm stumped.

| | | Interesting... The radioactive signage could just be a scare tactic too, to keep people like us out. I say we try it out, a small group...

| | | That signage could be for anything, at my school they had to have it for the cadet rifles because they had radium in the scopes. It could pose no danger in that small quantity unless someone cracked one open and ate it but, you know. I don't really know the area but i'm willing to bet its not as dangerous as you make out.

| | | This seems to be a good example of poor risk-benefit analysis. I'd say that whatever's beyond that fence is potentially more hazardous than interesting. Course, I say this without knowing how big the buildings in there are, but still.. when it comes to radiation it's probably a good policy to not let curiosity get the better of you.

| | | Wow... they're clearly marking gamma radiation on those signs as well... I'd have to agree with Cross on this. While interesting, it isn't worth fucking around with radiation.

| | | Decided to revisit the site today since I originally went up in the summer. A lot has changed. They have taken more land around it and fenced everything in up to the road. It is definitely a nuclear waste site. They even have a sign up explaining everything:
It looks like they are in the process of moving / cleaning it to a long term care facility since this stuff was dumped way back when no one knew or cared.

| | | It was Port Granby. The sign mentions two sites one in Port Granby and the other in Port Hope.
