| | | Sikkbones, this is a community built by people that go out and find places to explore, and in so doing, learn to cherish the places they discover. Thus they become protective of the sites and don't necessarily like to give out suggestions to people who pop onto the boards and ask the question you did. If you would like to find locations in Windsor to explore, I suggest that you go out and look for yourself. You might also consider asking local explorers if they would like to meet with you and explore. Then again, most people will probably tell you to go out and take a look for yourself. It's wonderful that you're interested in the activity of Urban Exploration, and we welcome you here to the boards, but please, you've gotta go out and do some stuff yourself. The best way to gain trust and in turn be trusted with the locations of places to explore, is to show some off yourself. Share and share alike. That said, welcome aboard. If you're looking for some startup info, take a look at the Tutorials and Lessons section: http://www.uer.ca/forum_showthreads.asp?fid=1&catid=120 and the UE Encyclopedia section http://www.uer.ca/forum_showthreads.asp?fid=1&catid=122 Now get out there and do some 'sploring!
It's a drag, it's a bore, it's really such a pitty To be lookin' at the board, not lookin' at the city. |

| | | try exploring the Neon Shop aka "the Peabody Building" at the corner of Riverside Dr. East and Devonshire Rd. Across the Hiram Walker Whisky Distillery plant. The building is old since WWI around (1918). Its abandoned now and It used to house a neon signs shop in the early 1990's and a jam space for local bands in Windsor to practice. I visited it many times when I lived in Windsor.

| | | Hey, I'm from Windsor here and just explored an abandoned warehouse several days ago. Pretty nice.. almost all the windows were completely missing, the parts were rattling in the wind. Lots of old typewriters laying around (why does this seem to be the most common thing that's always laying around?). To me, it's not really about going on here and reading about a location then just going to it. It's about walking around every day with my eyes open looking for potential places and then exploring them. I haven't shared any pictures on my website in a long time, and I only give out locations to people I know. After exploring a hospital and posting the pictures and location, the place got completely trashed and eventually the cops called, trying to charge me with theft and stuff.
All that being said, maybe some sort of organized UE meetings in the Windsor/Detroit area should happen? UER should organize meetings in the same way 2600.com does, where anyone is free to start a meeting and submit them to listings and they all happen at a common date.
