Has anyone been to the abandoned farm at 784 Eglinton Ave West, Mississauga? At Mavis. I am not sure if it is still standing, a house at least 150 years old and barn. Empty for a long time. I am looking for photos or a report on the interior, last I heard it was burned but still standing. It is called the Sandford Farm. Any info greatly appreciated. Also, any exploration details of anything from that area of Mississauga, THANKS.

I think this location is in the database. But good find - continue scouting and, if possible, grab a few pics. You're on the right track!

Yes I've seen the farm also. It is in the DB but accessable only to full members.

-------History---------

The farmhouse was built under the name of " Sandford", and is usually referred to as the Sandford Farm. It was built about 1870 and remained in the family until it was sold only a few years ago and developed. The house was designated prior to the fire. When the developer bought the property the house had been sitting vacant and had been vandalised by
fire. It was always in the development agreement that the house would be kept and renovated as a residential structure. However, as it has sat empty and open to the elements for many years now, the feasibility of it being used for any purpose is doubtful. Its fate has not been decided and continues to be a matter of discussion.

------------------------

The place is extremely dangerous as it is falling apart all on it's own. The ground cover will cover up rusty nails, wear good boots and watch out if you're going there.

THANKS SO MUCH. I really want to check it out, I am so glad it is still there at least. I was obsessed with it as a child, when people were still living there. I will wear safety boots and stuff. I remember it had a front porch roof thing that was leaning at the posts about 15 years ago. The people who lived there drove a 1960's black sedan and were kind of like shut in's. They were unapproachable and strict with NO TRESSPASSING signs. Thanks so much for all that info. -Michelle

yea its definatly still there
it's all boarded up, however there is a small crack in which u can get through. there is a lot of debree as soon as you get in, however if you look to your left there is a staircase which is safe to walk on but id grab onto something as u walk up them. Up stairs the floor is very shaky. I read something about there being a trap door about 50 meters from the house and when thi person opened it there was a tunnel that lead to the house. I am pretty sure however that it is gone due to construction, it might be at the back of the house though, were nothing has been touched yet. If you find it let me know.
