I recently visited this abandoned factory, and I am wondering if anyone knows what this place was and what it was used for.

It's located just north of the Ex grounds, between the railroad tracks and East Liberty St, between Hanna and Strachan. It's like the last of the old industrial buildings that used to line the tracks just north of the Ex grounds.

It is in the full-members only section, so he won't be able to see the listing yet.

" In 1844, a farmer named Daniel Massey turned over management of his Grafton area farm to his son Hart and began working on projects in his workshop. Three years later he opened his own agricultural implement company and the business grew. In 1891 he merged with the A. Harris Company in Brantford, thus creating the Massey-Harris Company. By 1899, the Massey-Harris Company built a large complex to produce agricultural implements for use around the world. Their office was housed at 915 King Street West and the factory stood on Liberty Street. The factory is still standing on Liberty Street but has been long since abandoned. "

That building was quite fun. Its very out of place these days.

Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years.

I've explored the remnants of the old Massey-Harris offices in Brantford (prior to that it was Cockshutt). A neat old building with some really cool original decorations.

Disgruntled.

Now that's cool. Cockshutt really hasn't officially been around since the 50's, I think. Even then it wasn't the original company, just the name. The building is right beside this entry in the LDB... though the building I'm talking about hasn't been entered in the LDB yet.
