Your best bet is simply to scout for them. If your eye is looking for abandoned (or haunted) houses, you will find them quite easily, in your very own town even!

Exactly what Fedge said, scout. I do know several but I'm not willing to post them in a public forum for obvious reasons, hense my first offer, I'd be more than willing to guide you to certain locations. As long as I can come along. More fun in that case [last edit 1/6/2006 4:06 AM by Axle - edited 1 times]

| | | A lot of people here have a problem with just handing out locations to people willy-nilly. A big part of urban exploration is the exploration part - which includes finding these locations by yourself. Do some research on the internet, in the newspaper, or at the library. If you're looking for drains, check maps to see where waterways suddenly start out of nowhere. Posting on this forum asking for locations to be handed out like tiny sandwiches on a plate is generally frowned upon. Sure, there may be some that don't give a rat's ass, but most of us work pretty hard at finding places to explore, and don't like handing out information to someone they really don't know. That's part of why the trust system here was started. And in the long run, it's a lot more satisfying to find someplace yourself, scout it out and eventually explore it. Even if someone's been there and explored it before you. Anything else and you're just playing tourist. I hope I got my point across and didn't come across as being snarky. I'm not trying to be like that, I just think you should get out there and do the footwork yourself just like everyone else. C.

| | | Cross, I gave them three 'safe' locations, ones that I've seen and explored. The guy gave me his word, so if I hear any sort of burnings or arson, we'll know who to find and beat up.

The ruins are a well known tourist attraction, it's called The Hermitage and it is just that a bit of ruins. It's something you could stand above it, look down and snap a shot of the whole place. There are apparently rumours that the actual ruins are haunted as well as the surrounding forest. There have been many strange sightings and sounds reported coming from the forest at night.
Why is marijuana not legal? Why is marijuana not legal? Its a natural plant that grows in the dirt. You know what's not natural, 80 year old dudes with hardons. Thats not natural, but we got pills for that. We're dedicating all our resources to keeping the old guys erect but we're puttin people in jail for smoking something that grows in the dirt. |

| | | I used to work for The Hamilton Conservation Authority who own the land where The Hermitage sits. They verily frown upon visitors at night and people climbing on the main ruins. The structure actually isn't very well maintained and it might well collapse under you. HCA as non-profit organisation spends most of its extra funds on acquiring land for conservation and vandalism repair so little to no money is allocated for monument repair/conservation hence the fence, which surrounds the main ruins. Please respect it. A major peace collapsed since 1978 and it was never repaired due to costs, lets not have any more degradation. Also as an UER mission. It would be rather boring actually. A bunch of old stone foundations in a grass glade. Yawn. If you want to go for the haunting factor, (which many do) contact Haunted Hamilton www.hauntedhamilton.com or the Hamilton Conservation Authority www.conservationhamilton.ca yourself. They treat people who actually ask for night tours very amicably.

| | | I think that for the hermatige the story goes that the old lady who used to live there never left when she died because she loved the place so much. I've heard of eye witness accounts were people have seen the lady and she showed them the ruins of her house except that the house seemed exactly how it was back then. Also in the surrounding area (forest) there was supposedly a man who had hung himslef over his lover? i think? i can't remember anyways just sharing my knowlage

| | | Haha, I love ghost locations. Whenever I get a chance to explore supposedly haunted locations, I walk around politely talking to the ghost/air, asking for them to come out and say hello. So far I've never had any luck. lol [last edit 1/8/2006 12:23 AM by TheFirstCause - edited 1 times]

| | | This is a good resource for ghost towns. Checked some out myself while we were camping up in Parry Sound last summer. I can't say for a fact they were haunted but wow the house we found along the way (even though it wasn't listed on the site) still had coats hanging on the hooks in the hallway. It definitely had a neat energy to it. http://www.ghosttownpix.com/ (Click Ontario, then towns) [last edit 1/9/2006 5:07 AM by littlealien - edited 1 times]
